Job Description

JOB SUMMARY

We're looking for an experienced (4-7 years) Hardware Packaging Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team! You'll design and develop mechanical packaging solutions for our products, ensuring they meet customer requirements and industry standards. You will also be responsible for guiding and mentoring other engineers. You will be reporting to the Head of the Department.


RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Design and develop mechanical packaging solutions using CAD software
  • Create and review detailed drawings, BOMs, and documentation.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical & testing) to ensure integration.
  • Manage timelines and quality of deliverables.
  • Conduct and review DFMEA, tolerance analysis, design optimization & define DVP.
  • Mentor and guide junior level engineers.
  • Source and qualify suppliers, manage vendor relationships.
  • Hands-on testing, design of experiments, prototyping, and troubleshooting.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and best practices.


PREFERRED SKILLS

  • 4-7 years of experience in hardware packaging design.
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, NX, Creo, Catia, Fusion 360 etc.)
  • Strong understanding of GD&T, DFx, and design optimization.
  • Experience with sensor and electrical systems integration.
  • Experience with machining steel, brass, copper. Aluminium casting and sheet metal.
  • Experience in plastics component design and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Experience with design for excellence (DFx) and design optimization.
  • Handling timelines and project management.
  • Driving Root Cause Analysis and problem solving.


MUST HAVE SKILLS

  • Very strong on mechanical engineering fundamentals.
  • Designing of casted and machined components: aluminium, brass, steel, and copper.
  • Designing plastics casings with:
  • Injection moulding
  • CNC machining
  • 3D printing (FDM, SLA, etc.)
  • Experience with plastic materials: ABS, PC, PP, etc.
  • Fastener selection and calculation.
  • DFMEA. B Diagram, P diagram, RPN.
  • Design for excellence (manufacturing, assembly, cost, service, supply chain, testing, sustainability, reliability & quality).
  • Design IP 66 & 67 components.


GOOD TO HAVE SKILLS

  • Experience with IoT devices, robotics, or automation.
  • Knowledge of industry standards (IEC, UL, CE, FCC, ISO, PESO etc.).
  • Familiarity with PLM software and workflow management tools.
  • Understanding of Pipeline Engineering.
  • Familiarity with fluid dynamics software like COMSOL, Open Foam etc.
