Mechanical Design Engineer

Requirement: Mechanical Design Engineer (Waste Management Machinery) Role OverviewWe are seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer with expertise in waste management and recycling machinery. The engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and optimizing equipment such as shredders, trommels, conveyors, compactors, and processing plants. The role demands strong knowledge of mechanical systems, industrial standards, and hands-on design experience with fabrication and manufacturing. Key Responsibilities Conceptualise and design machines for Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) processing, RDF shredding, AFR feeding systems, composting, and related applications. Develop 3D models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings using CAD software (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Creo, etc.). Conduct mechanical calculations (motor sizing, gearbox selection, structural load analysis, belt tensioning, etc.). Collaborate with the fabrication team to ensure designs are production-ready and cost-efficient. Integrate mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems into machine designs. Optimize designs for durability, safety, and maintenance efficiency. Support prototype development, testing, and validation of new equipment. Ensure compliance with relevant IS, CPCB, and environmental standards. Required Skills & ExperienceBachelor’s degree (B.E./B.Tech) or Diploma in Mechanical Engineering. 3–5+ years of experience in machine design (preferably waste management, material handling, or heavy machinery). Strong proficiency in CAD tools (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Creo, or equivalent). Hands-on knowledge of fabrication processes, sheet metal design, welding standards, and GD&T. Familiarity with drive systems, gearboxes, motors, bearings, and hydraulics. Experience in plant layout design for waste management or related industries is an advantage. Ability to create BOMs (Bill of Materials), costing estimates, and technical documentation. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Preferred BackgroundPrior experience in designing MSW trommel screens, RDF shredders, disc separators, conveyors, or compost machines. Exposure to manufacturing plants and vendor coordination. Knowledge of finite element analysis (FEA) and simulation tools.
