Marine Technical Purchaser, Gurugram

Main Duties & Responsibilities

1. Procurement & Vendor Management

• Source and procure spare parts, consumables, and technical equipment for vessels.
• Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure competitive pricing and high-quality products.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and service providers to ensure reliable support.

2. Order Processing & Coordination

• Process purchase requisitions from vessels and fleet management teams efficiently.
• Ensure accurate and timely order placement, tracking, and follow-ups.
• Coordinate with logistics and supply chain teams to arrange timely delivery of goods to vessels at ports worldwide.

3. Budgeting & Cost Control

• Support the monitoring and control of procurement budgets.
• Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising on quality or safety.
• Review and verify supplier invoices and ensure accurate documentation for payment processing.
• Ensure timely clearance of invoices in the system and follow up on pending payments.

4. Compliance & Documentation

• Ensure all procurement activities are in compliance with company policies, maritime regulations, and classification society requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of purchases, contracts, and vendor agreements.
• Assist during audits related to procurement and inventory management.

5. Technical Support & Communication

• Collaborate closely with vessel superintendents and technical teams to understand and fulfill purchasing requirements.
• Provide alternative solutions when specific parts or equipment are unavailable.
• Keep vessels updated on order status and delivery timelines.

Desirable Knowledge

• Solid understanding of vessel maintenance and dry-docking requirements.
• Familiarity with international maritime regulations.
• Proficiency in procurement and inventory management software.
• Experience in international logistics and customs clearance for marine spares.
