Role description:

Modi Naturals has disrupted the toughest space in the consumer products industry in India – edible oils. The company, led by a first-generation entrepreneur, has successfully carved out a niche & gained significant share against both Indian & MNC FMCG behemoths in a short period of time & built scale that is unprecedented in recent times. The company is looking for a young, ambitious new product development manager to move into the next orbit.

As the product development manager of this not-so-young startup, you will be a member of the team responsible for our sourcing and new product development efforts. You will be responsible for expanding the portfolio by way of new product launches. You will have the unique opportunity to leave/create a legacy; something that only startups that have achieved scale can offer.

Key Results Areas:

The candidate will be expected to take a 360degree approach to new product development right from development of vendors, development of product, sourcing, packaging, quality control, pricing strategy to market placement and promotion strategy.

Vendor Identification & Onboarding

Identify, evaluate, and onboard reliable vendors and third-party manufacturers.

·      Cost Management

Negotiate cost cards, terms, and contracts to ensure competitive pricing and maintain high quality.

·      Supply Chain Execution

Build and maintain strong vendor partnerships to ensure consistent OTIF (On-Time In-Full) supply.

·      Product Innovation

Drive product innovation and market differentiation through market research and close collaboration with suppliers.

·      Quality Compliance

Define, implement, and enforce quality standards across multiple food categories.

·      Project Management

Lead compliant and timely new product launches in collaboration with cross-functional teams (R&D, QA, Procurement, Marketing).

·      Manufacturing Oversight

Audit and qualify third-party manufacturing facilities for regulatory compliance and operational capabilities.

·      Documentation & QMS

Oversee all product testing, documentation, and quality management system (QMS) requirements.

·      Continuous Improvement

Drive continuous improvement initiatives and ensure timely resolution of supply chain complaints or non-conformities.

Essential Criteria:

· Postgraduate/Food Technology

· Minimum 5 years of experience in sourcing and product development, preferably developing private labels at a Modern Trade/ E-commerce retailers.

· Excellent communication and presentation skills; Highly organized, a self-starter,

resilient and able to perform under pressure. 

· Track record of delivery, goal oriented along with ability to set clear priorities

and meets deadlines.

· Result oriented, entrepreneurial, and self-motivated.
