Job Description

Job Title: Credit Analyst / Credit Manager Department: Credit & Risk Reports to: Head of Credit / Risk Manager Job Purpose: The Credit Analyst/Credit Manager is responsible for the appraisal and underwriting of loan applications, ensuring strict adherence to the credit policy and risk framework. The role includes evaluating financial and non-financial information, assessing risks, and ensuring the health of the loan portfolio through effective credit monitoring. Key Responsibilities:1. Credit Assessment: Appraise and underwrite loan proposals in line with the company’s credit policies and risk framework. Conduct thorough evaluation of application files, ensuring completeness and compliance with process guidelines. Assess applicant’s income, repayment capacity, intention, and credit behaviour through document verification, reference checks, and bureau reports. Analyze the applicant’s business model, revenue streams, and potential risks associated with the loan. Evaluate key credit risk parameters and recommend measures to mitigate potential risks. Prepare detailed credit appraisal notes/memos for approval by appropriate sanctioning authorities. Ensure adherence to defined turnaround time (TAT) while maintaining a healthy approval ratio. 2. Credit Monitoring: Ensure strict compliance with credit policies, processes, and regulatory guidelines. Monitor and maintain high portfolio quality by identifying early warning signals. Regularly review exception approvals and perform rejection analysis to draw actionable insights. Maintain credit quality while keeping credit costs under control. Participate in portfolio reviews, audits, and compliance checks. Key Competencies & Skills: Strong analytical skills with attention to detail. Excellent understanding of credit risk, financial statements, and cash flow analysis. Good knowledge of credit bureau checks, risk assessment tools, and customer due diligence. Sound judgment and decision-making capabilities under pressure. Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. High level of integrity and professional ethics. Proficiency in MS Office (Excel, Word) and credit processing tools. Educational Qualification: Graduation in Commerce, Finance, Economics, or related field (mandatory). MBA in Finance / CA / CFA (preferred). Experience:3 to 8 years of experience in credit underwriting, credit risk analysis, or loan processing in NBFCs, Banks, or Financial Institutions.
