Manager – Customs, Center of Excellence

Job Location:

KIn this role, you focus on enhancing the efficiency and compliance of customs processes across GSC locations. By standardizing procedures, leading digital transformation initiatives, and driving operational excellence, the position aims to align customs operations with global strategies while ensuring high-quality service delivery. Additionally, effective project management will facilitate the successful implementation of customs solutions, fostering collaboration and continuous improvement across teams.

Key Responsibilities:

Standardization

  • Define and implement standardized customs processes across GSC locations.
  • Align service offerings with global customs strategy and compliance requirements.
  • Promote consistency in documentation, reporting, and operational workflows.

Digitalization

  • Lead the design and deployment of digital customs solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT and business teams to develop scalable, automated tools.
  • Support data validation, exception handling, and model training for intelligent customs systems.
  • Ensure delivery of outputs in structured formats (CSV, XLS, XML) for downstream use.

Operational Excellence

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance customs declaration quality.
  • Support global trade compliance activities including duty drawback, FTA analysis, and customs procedures.
  • Facilitate transformation projects such as IRR/SE optimization.
  • Monitor performance metrics and ensure sustainability of implemented solutions.

Project Management

  • Manage full project lifecycle: definition, planning, implementation, and transition.
  • Develop project charters, plans, and communication strategies.
  • Coordinate stakeholder engagement, resource allocation, and risk management.
  • Oversee go-live activities, training, testing, and formal project closure.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Graduate (Bachelor’s degree from a recognized University in any discipline)
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in Customs domain
  • Strong knowledge of customs classification, global trade management, and brokerage operations.
  • Experience with clinical trial shipment lifecycle is a plus.
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools (Excel, Word; Access preferred).
  • Excellent skills in data analysis, quality testing, and change management.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders across geographies.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and leadership capabilities.
