Job Title: Mainframe cobol developer · Location: bangalore,chennai,pune,hyderabad · Experience: 8+ Year to 15year(relevant in mainframe COBOL developer 7Year) · Job Type : Contract to hire .Mode of interview : Virtual · Notice Period:- Immediate joiners(who can able to join May 3rd week) Mandatory Skills: Mainframe Cobol Developer, JCL, DB2, VSAM, CICS, Ezytrieve, (relevant in mainframe cobol developer 7 Year) Banking Domain should be atleast 5 years of experience Roles and Responsibilities: Developed, maintained, and enhanced banking applications using COBOL, JCL, DB2, VSAM, and CICS in a mainframe environment. Analyzed and understood business requirements and translated them into high-quality, efficient, and maintainable code. Worked on batch and online processing systems, including writing new COBOL programs and modifying existing ones. Performed code walkthroughs, impact analysis, and unit testing to ensure robustness and accuracy of solutions. Designed and maintained JCL scripts to manage batch jobs, automate data processing, and schedule daily tasks using scheduling tools like Control-M or CA7. Wrote complex SQL queries and used DB2 for data retrieval, updates, and performance tuning. Managed and updated VSAM datasets, including creation, backup, and recovery, ensuring data integrity. Developed and debugged CICS transactions, including screen design, backend logic, and error handling for online banking applications. Created Easytrieve reports to meet business reporting requirements and extract insights from transaction data. Utilized PL/I in legacy modules for analysis, debugging, and occasional development support. Provided production support, including debugging abends, analyzing logs, and implementing quick fixes to minimize business impact. Supported data migration, batch processing, system upgrades, and integration testing as part of major releases. Ensured adherence to coding standards, documentation practices, and audit compliance specific to the banking and financial industry.
