Job Title: Global Logistics Buyer, Ocean Freight

Experience Needed: - 2-3 years in Procurement Operations, Global Supply Chain Management, EXIM operations, Global Logistics Operation, International trade and commerce or related fields

Position Summary:

• Sourcing and Procurement: Identify, select, and qualify suitable shipping lines and freight forwarders, evaluating their reliability, service quality, and cost-effectiveness.
• Negotiation and Contract Management: Lead negotiations for ocean freight contracts, spot rates, and service agreements to secure competitive pricing and favorable terms.
• Cost Optimization and Analysis: Monitor and analyze freight costs and market trends (e.g., fuel prices, seasonal demand, geopolitical events) to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement optimization strategies.
• Carrier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, strategic relationships with core ocean carriers and logistics service providers (LSPs) to ensure high service levels and performance.
• Operational Coordination: Coordinate shipment planning and vessel bookings with internal supply chain, production, and sales teams, as well as external partners, to ensure timely delivery of goods.
• Compliance and Documentation: Ensure all freight operations comply with international trade regulations, customs procedures, Incoterms, and company policies, overseeing accurate documentation such as bills of lading and customs clearance papers.
• Performance Monitoring: Track and report on key performance indicators (KPIs), such as cost per container, delivery timelines, and carrier performance, implementing corrective actions when necessary.
• Risk Management: Identify potential risks in freight operations (e.g., port congestion, delays) and develop mitigation strategies or alternative solutions to maintain supply chain stability.
• Problem Resolution: Act as the primary point of contact for resolving issues, delays, or incidents that arise during the shipping process.

• Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proficiency in logistics management software (TMS, ERP systems) and MS Office Suite, especially Excel.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
• Deep understanding of global trade laws, international shipping regulations, and Incoterms is essential.
