Job Description

We are seeking a talented individual to join our investments team at Mercer. This role will be based in Mumbai. This is a hybrid role that has a requirement of working at least three days a week in the office.

An exciting opportunity to join one of Mercer’s largest and most rapidly-growing business areas – UK Investment Consulting. As part of our UK Investment Consulting Team, the successful candidate will play a key role in providing dynamic consulting support to our global client teams.


Consulting Support encompasses generating several regulatory and governance reports, cashflow advices and research work for new fund managers. Additionally, it involves drafting ESG compliant reports.


This role will be multi-faceted and fluid, requiring an individual that has a diverse background across Investment Research, Fund Performance indicators, experience on Consulting work and Project management. The core experience and skills will be a mix of fund research and analysis, pension reporting, middle office services, business development, relationship & stakeholder management and leadership skills.


We will count on you to:



  • Bespoke Consulting

    - Support senior consultants in preparing presentations and client deliverables. This includes editing, quality control, and finalization of client-related documents.
  • Reporting

    – the team distributes a suite of reports to the business on a monthly/quarterly/ad-hoc basis. The successful candidate will assist the team in coordinating and inputting all relevant data so that reports are distributed in a timely manner.
  • Research

    – Undertake research on Fund managers and undertake project work on traditional and alternative asset classes.
  • Analysis

    – Collect and create search work for Investment managers. Articulate outcome of investment analysis in form of reports or slides in a succinct manner.
  • Work in partnership

    with our internal and external teams to ensure assigned tasks are completed effectively with a strong focus on accuracy, efficiency, and professionalism at all times.
  • Take ownership of team processes whilst always being conscious of the risk of error and ensuring that we have appropriate controls and checks in place to achieve consistently excellent results.
  • Responsible for helping and managing analysts to produce reports for the clients.
  • Manages client activities and provides consulting and advisory guidance to their client group.
  • Identifying issues but also offering and putting forward ideas and solutions. Ensuring all issues are communicated and escalated appropriately to the superiors.
  • Acts as peer reviewer for colleagues where appropriate.
  • Prioritize working with a consulting mindset and attend queries, concerns and suggestions from stakeholders.
  • Attend daily team conference calls along with other weekly/ad-hoc calls to allow for effective communication and escalation of matters when required.
  • Identify areas for training and development and be pro-active in finding ways to achieve development plans.
  • Acts as a mentor/role model to analysts, delegating work as appropriate to utilize and develop skills, knowledge and confidence.


What you need to have:


  • Education/ Qualification: Masters in Finance or similar field, or MBA. Candidates having MBA/CFA/FRM will be an advantage.
  • A relevant professional qualification with 5-7 years’ experience in the financial sector preferably leading teams with bespoke client needs
  • Technical knowledge of fund structures, parties to the fund and the differing fund / asset types.
  • Experience in undertaking and articulating investment research, regulatory reports and insights.
  • Ability to understand and interpret performance indicators
  • Professional and enthusiastic approach to work.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills along with ability to grasp information quickly.
  • Accuracy and attention to detail key requirements.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate with internal and external clients at all levels.
  • Highly driven and disciplined.
  • Ability to work effectively within a small, fast-growing team and assist in the leading, managing and development of that team.
  • Fluent English essential.
  • Strong IT skills (PowerPoint, Excel, Word).
