Job Description Position: Lead – Quality Level: M-9 Plant / Function: Beneficiation Plant Asset: Beneficiation Plant Location: Sagasahi Company: ArcelorMittal Nippon Steel India Limited 1. Job Purpose: The Lead – Quality (Head of QA, Process Technology & Business Excellence) is responsible for driving quality assurance, process optimization, and continuous improvement initiatives at the Beneficiation Plant. The role ensures robust quality management systems, process efficiency, and a culture of excellence to achieve operational and strategic objectives. 2. Org Structure Reporting To: Head – Beneficiation Plant Direct Reports: Quality Team (4 members) 3. Key Accountabilities & Responsibilities Quality Assurance (QA) Management Develop and implement a comprehensive QA strategy and framework ensuring compliance with regulatory and customer requirements. Lead the QA team to maintain quality standards, procedures, and best practices. Conduct audits, inspections, and reviews aligned with ISO, BIS, and other standards. Process Technology Optimization Evaluate and implement new process technologies to enhance operational efficiency and product quality. Partner with Production, R&D, and Engineering for process optimization and innovation. Monitor process parameters, identify gaps, and drive corrective/preventive actions. Business Excellence Design and lead the Business Excellence program leveraging Lean, Six Sigma, and TQM methodologies. Promote structured problem-solving and continuous improvement culture. Deliver cost reduction, productivity gains, and quality improvements through high-impact projects. 4. Key Challenges Ensuring consistent customer satisfaction through high-quality outputs. Managing stakeholder expectations while balancing cost and efficiency. Driving innovation and improvement in a process-intensive plant environment. 5. Key Decisions By Jobholder: NA Recommendations to Superior: Strategic process technology adoptions, business excellence initiatives, and major quality-related interventions. 6. Cross-Functional Interactions Internal: Quality, Operations, Maintenance, Support Services, Beneficiation Plant Team, Sales & Marketing. External: Customers, suppliers, regulatory bodies, and technology partners. 7. Dimensions Financial: Capex & Opex management for QA, Process Technology, and Business Excellence initiatives. Team Size: 4 members. 8. Skills & Knowledge i. Educational Qualifications & Certifications BE/BTech in Mineral Beneficiation, Industrial Engineering, Quality Management, or equivalent. Master’s degree / MBA preferred. Certifications such as Six Sigma Black Belt, Lean, or TQM highly desirable. ii. Total Experience 15+ years of experience in quality management, process optimization, and business excellence within large-scale industrial/beneficiation plants. iii. Functional Skills Strong expertise in ISO 9001, process optimization, and continuous improvement methodologies. Proficiency in quality systems, audits, and performance monitoring tools. iv. Behavioral Skills Strong leadership and people management skills. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities. Effective communication, collaboration, and stakeholder management.
