About the Role

This senior Lead role is designed for a strategic payroll expert tasked with spearheading the Automation & Transformation agenda across our financial services operations. The primary mandate is to move beyond transactional payroll to a predictive, automated, and governance-heavy function. You will manage complex stakeholder relationships, oversee PAN India payroll across multi-entities, and integrate international exposure into our global shared service model.

Responsibilities

• Automation & Transformation Leadership

• Process Re-engineering (BPR): Lead the audit and re-engineering of existing manual processes within the payroll lifecycle, implementing automated "zero-touch" solutions.
• RPA & AI Implementation: Identify and deploy Robotic Process Automation (RPA) tools to handle repetitive tasks such as data entry, validation, and reconciliation, eliminating manual errors.
• Digital Roadmap: Define and execute a comprehensive roadmap for integrating payroll systems seamlessly with global HRIS (Workday, SAP) and Finance ERPs using APIs and advanced data mapping.

• PAN India & Multi-Entity Payroll Governance

• Compliance Mastery: Act as the Subject Matter Expert for all Indian Statutory Compliance (TDS, PF, ESIC, Professional Tax, LWF) across diverse legal entities within the organization.
• Operational Excellence: Oversee the accurate and timely processing of monthly payroll for all Indian entities, maintaining robust internal controls and audit readiness.
• Vendor Management: Drive digital transformation requirements with external payroll vendors, ensuring their platforms integrate smoothly with our internal automated systems.

• Stakeholder Management & International Exposure

• Strategic Partnering: Manage critical relationships with high-level stakeholders across Finance, HR Business Partners, Tax, and Legal teams, ensuring transparency and alignment on transformation initiatives.
• Global Alignment: Collaborate with the International Payroll teams, ensuring global consistency and gaining exposure to the nuances of multi-currency payroll, cross-border tax implications, and financial services-specific compensation structures (e.g., automated bonus calculations).
• Audit Management: Lead internal and external financial audits, leveraging automated systems to provide accurate and immediate reporting required by regulators.

Qualifications

• Experience: 12+ years of core Payroll and Payroll Transformation experience, with significant time spent within the Financial Services industry.
• Domain Expertise: Deep knowledge of the Indian labour law landscape and experience managing payroll across multiple legal entities.
• Automation Focus: Proven experience implementing RPA, leveraging advanced Excel automation (VBA), or leading large-scale ERP migrations (e.g., from ADP to Workday/SAP).
• Leadership & Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management skills, with the ability to drive change and communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical leadership.
