Job Description

Purpose/Objective


    The Lead - Finance & Accounts-SM is responsible for managing the financial and accounting operations of smart metering projects within AESL, overseeing activities such as bookkeeping, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and financial reporting. The role ensures the accurate and timely execution of financial processes while serving as the Controller of Accounts and Tax for the business. It drives operational efficiency, ensures compliance with financial regulations, and provides critical financial insights to support decision-making, cost optimization, and sustainable business growth in smart metering operations.

Key Responsibilities of Role


    Lead - Finance & Accounts-SM Strategic Financial Support: Align financial strategy with Smart Metering objectives by supporting the preparation of the STRAP (5-Year Plan), ensuring long-term financial sustainability and cost-efficient metering infrastructure development. Support cross-functional financial initiatives, including AMI implementation cost modeling, digital transformation financial planning, and sustainability reporting, ensuring financial alignment with operational strategies. Financial Planning & Control: Enhance budgeting efficiency for Smart Metering projects by ensuring timely preparation of budgets, tracking budget vs. actuals, and initiating corrective actions to optimize financial resources. Strengthen financial governance by overseeing the control, reconciliation, and timely management of bank guarantees, ensuring compliance with project requirements and procurement obligations. Ensure effective inventory management for Smart Metering assets by tracking stock levels of smart meters, communication modules, and IT infrastructure to optimize cash flow and reduce excess inventory. Taxation & Compliance: Ensure compliance with tax obligations related to Smart Metering financial transactions by overseeing the preparation of filings under Direct and Indirect Tax Acts, GST, and sector-specific tax regulations. Mitigate audit risks and regulatory non-compliance by ensuring timely completion of tax assessments, cost audits, and financial reporting for Smart Metering projects. Operational Financial Control: Optimize financial accuracy by ensuring timely completion of Smart Metering-related financial transactions, proper account closing in compliance with INDAS and financial reporting standards. Develop internal financial controls and compliance frameworks for Smart Metering financial processes, ensuring adherence to SOPs, Delegation of Authority (DOA), and digital transaction monitoring. Project & Site Accounting: Ensure accurate project financials for Smart Metering rollouts, managing cost tracking, capitalization of metering assets, and financial transparency in infrastructure deployments. Safeguard financial interests by ensuring appropriate insurance coverage for Smart Metering assets, mitigating risks associated with infrastructure, cybersecurity, and operational failures. Audit & Regulatory Reporting: Ensure financial regulatory compliance by managing tax assessments and filings for Smart Metering projects, including GST, service tax, and sector-specific tax requirements. Maintain audit compliance by ensuring the timely completion of VAT, Cost, Tax, and Internal audits, aligning Smart Metering financial records with statutory and industry standards. Team Management & Capability Building: Foster financial team growth and expertise in Smart Metering financial operations by providing structured training programs on project finance, regulatory compliance, and financial risk management. Promote a collaborative and process-driven financial environment by ensuring effective communication, conflict resolution, and alignment of financial outcomes with operational goals. Qualifications and Experience


    Educational Qualification: CA (Charted Accountant) Work Experience (Range of years): 7-12 Years of relevant experience Accounts knowledge, Control Over SAP FICO, MM, FM Module & basic Knowledge SAP BI & BPC Tools. Commercial acumen. Knowledge on Different VAT act, Income Tax Act, and update on Same. Strong interpersonal skills. Coordination skill. Good Team player. Communication Skill. Leadership qualities, Commercial acumen, Communication Skill, SAP FICO, PS, BPT, BPC Module. SAP FICO, MM, FM Module, BI/BPC Tools, Advance Excel. SAP BG Module. Knowledge of Accounts, Costing, Taxation, Auditing etc.
