Role Overview

IPE Global is seeking a seasoned professional to lead its Climate Finance portfolio under the Climate Change and Sustainability (CCS) Practice. The role focuses on driving business development, research, programme management, and expansion of work on low-carbon pathways, energy transition, and climate adaptation across India, South Asia, Southeast Asia, and East Africa. The Lead will oversee portfolio development, lead proposal writing, establish teams for implementation, and provide technical and managerial oversight for project delivery.

This position demands strong expertise in climate finance, policy, and the financial sector (banking, capital markets, insurance). The Lead will work closely with donors, governments, financial regulators, DFIs, and philanthropic organisations, while mentoring a team of analysts and managers. The role requires frequent stakeholder engagement, research contributions, and field coordination.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Development (50%)

• Identify new opportunities, build donor relationships, and spearhead climate finance-related bids.
• Lead business planning, fundraising strategy, and proposal development for bilateral, multilateral, and philanthropic funders.
• Contribute to research on energy-economy modelling, sectoral roadmaps, just transitions, resilience, and low-carbon technologies.
• Represent IPE at conferences, workshops, and policy forums as a thought leader in climate finance.
• Analyse climate finance mechanisms, policies, and risk management approaches across public and private financial institutions.

Research & Programme Management (40%)

• Guide project teams to ensure quality and timely delivery.
• Support development of alternate climate finance scenarios and data-driven policy analysis.
• Lead knowledge products—policy briefs, thematic studies, financial roadmaps, and research publications.
• Manage project reporting, budgeting, and donor coordination.
• Expand team capacity by hiring, training, and mentoring staff.

Leadership & Mentoring (10%)

• Manage and mentor multi-disciplinary teams of analysts and managers.
• Provide strategic guidance on cross-sectoral portfolios and climate finance integration.
• Build internal knowledge systems and represent CCS in external networks.

Qualifications & Experience

• Master’s/PhD in economics, finance, public policy, or related fields.
• Minimum 8 years’ professional experience, including 4 years in international organisations/IGOs.
• Strong background in financial services, consulting, or development finance institutions.
• Proven expertise in climate finance, energy transition, and regulatory frameworks.
• Demonstrated success in proposal development and donor engagement.
• Strong analytical, quantitative, and communication skills; proficiency in MS Office.
