Role OverviewAs a Language Translator for LLM (Large Language Model) Training & Evaluation at TIFIN, you’ll leverage your linguistic expertise, evaluation acumen, and collaborative mindset, your experience in high-quality translation and process delivery, and your academic grounding in language and communication. You’ll be the bridge between human linguistic excellence and next-generation AI, ensuring our models are not only accurate—but contextually, culturally, and stylistically world-class for Arabic/ Japanese/Spanish.
Key Responsibilities
Translation Evaluation & Linguistics (70%)
- Evaluate and annotate LLM-generated translations for Arabic, Japanese, and Spanish, including nuanced, real-world language use across domains (finance, communication, culture).
- Compare outputs to high-quality human translations, identifying errors in phrasing, idiom, tone, register, and contextual accuracy.
- Employ annotation and scoring frameworks (BLEU, ROUGE, COMET) to maintain rigorous benchmarks.
- Provide nuanced feedback for model training, informed by your deep language and cultural insights.
AI/LLM Collaboration (30%)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—engineers, data scientists, project managers—sharing clear, actionable reports and linguistic guidance.
- Contribute to robust datasets and test cases, drawing on your academic or operational experience with language corpora, data curation, or research projects.
- Maintain structured evaluations, summaries, and logs, supporting iterative model and process improvement.
- Required Qualifications
- Linguistic Authority: Bachelor’s or Master’s in linguistics, translation, language technology, communication, or a cognate discipline. Depth of academic or professional language study a plus.
- Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in at least one of Arabic, Japanese, or Spanish, and professional English competence. Track record of high-quality translation, localization, or linguistic evaluation.
- Analytical Rigour: Experience in language quality evaluation, annotation, and error analysis—ideally in technical or interdisciplinary teams.
- Tech Curiosity: Working knowledge of LLMs, AI language tools, or prompt engineering is an advantage, but your language expertise is paramount.
- Organizational Excellence: Meticulous, organized, and process-driven; able to document, summarize, and communicate findings for diverse technical and non-technical audiences.
- Cross-Cultural Collaboration: Comfort working in fast-paced, international environments with a spirit of partnership, process orientation, and intellectual humility.
Desired Skills
- Experience using evaluation technology or annotation platforms.
- Corpus development, curriculum design, or research project experience.
- Experience reporting for process optimization, content operations, or academic dissemination of results.
