Job Summary

The Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for ensuring optimal performance and reliability of all instrumentation and control systems within the dairy processing plant. This role involves the installation, calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting of field instruments, PLC systems, SCADA, and automation equipment used in milk processing, CIP systems, pasteurizers, homogenizers, refrigeration units, and packaging lines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Instrumentation Maintenance & Calibration:
    • Install, calibrate, and maintain sensors, transmitters, flow meters, pressure gauges, temperature sensors, and other field instruments.
    • Ensure instruments are compliant with food safety, quality, and calibration standards (e.g., ISO, FSSAI, GFSI).
  • Automation Systems Support:
    • Troubleshoot and support PLC, SCADA, and HMI systems used in automated dairy processes.
    • Assist in modifying control logic for process improvements or product changes.
  • Process Optimization:
    • Collaborate with production and quality teams to optimize process parameters for efficiency, yield, and product consistency.
    • Monitor real-time data and identify areas for automation or energy-saving improvements.
  • Project Execution:
    • Participate in CAPEX projects related to new equipment or plant upgrades.
    • Ensure proper instrumentation is specified and integrated into new systems.
  • Documentation & Compliance:
    • Maintain calibration records, instrument datasheets, and loop diagrams.
    • Ensure compliance with GMP, HACCP, and other regulatory requirements.
  • Training & Support:
    • Provide technical support to operators and maintenance staff.
    • Conduct training sessions on basic instrumentation handling and first-level troubleshooting.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Instrumentation Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation / EEE or related field.
  • 2–5 years of experience in instrumentation or automation within a food or dairy processing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of PLCs (Siemens, Allen Bradley, etc.), SCADA systems, and control loops.
  • Familiar with process instruments (flow, level, pressure, temperature) and calibration procedures.
  • Understanding of dairy processes like pasteurization, CIP, fermentation, UHT, and filling lines.
  • Problem-solving mindset with good analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong communication and documentation skills.
