Information Technology Asset Manager

The IT Asset Manager is a subject matter expert responsible for the daily oversight and governance of Allison Transmission’s IT Asset Management program, which is a key component of the company’s ITIL-based global ITSM process framework.

This position will be a key driver in establishing ServiceNow as the single source of truth for all IT assets, ensuring data accuracy, lifecycle integrity, and compliance with ITIL v4 standards.

We are seeking an experienced IT Asset Manager to lead the management and governance of our IT asset data, with a core focus on ServiceNow Asset Management and CMDB (Configuration Management Database) best practices.

The ideal candidate will be hands-on in the creation, cleanup, and management of Configuration Items (CIs), and will work closely with cross-functional teams to enforce processes, maintain data quality, and support strategic IT decision-making through robust asset visibility.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as the subject matter expert for ServiceNow Asset Management and the CMDB, ensuring correct classification, relationships, and lifecycle status of all Configuration Items (CIs).
• Own and manage the end-to-end lifecycle of IT assets (hardware and software), ensuring data integrity, accuracy, and completeness within ServiceNow.
• Lead efforts to cleanse and maintain CMDB data, eliminating duplicates, stale entries, and incorrect relationships.
• Develop and implement processes and controls to align asset management practices with ITIL v4 standards.
• Define and monitor data quality KPIs, run audits, and continuously improve asset accuracy and completeness.
• Support integrations and data feeds into the CMDB from discovery tools, UEM platforms, and other systems.
• Train and guide teams on asset management processes and CMDB utilization.
• Collaborate with IT operations, security, procurement, and finance teams to enforce asset governance and ensure compliance.

Key Performance Measures

• End user satisfaction with service desk, desktop, workstation imaging, computer refresh, and computer deployment support
• Accurate and complete recording of IT assets in the Asset Management and CMDB repositories.
• Compliance with IT security policies, device configuration standards, and financial requirements.
• Facilitation of regular operational process reviews and other working sessions with multiple service providers, key stakeholders, and global team who supports the asset management function.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS, CIS, CIT, or similar technical field, or 3+ years of additional equivalent experience
• Excellent attention to detail, documentation, and process discipline.
• Understanding hardware and software lifecycle processes.
• Strong knowledge of ITIL v4 practices, particularly around Asset and Configuration Management.
• ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) – ITAM or CMDB
• Familiarity with Discovery tools (e.g., ServiceNow Discovery, SCCM, JAMF, Intune)
• Currently hold and/or willing to obtain ITIL v4 Foundations certification within 6 months of employment

Experience

• 5 years of experience in IT Asset Management, Configuration Management, or related roles.
• 3 years of experience collaborating with multiple IT and business stakeholders.
• 3 years of experience in regulated or enterprise environments
• Deep hands-on experience with ServiceNow Asset Management and CMDB modules.
