Job Title: Hostel Warden (Male/Female)

Position Summary

The Hostel Warden (Male/Female) will manage the daily operations, discipline, and welfare of a designated hostel block on campus, fostering a safe, secure, and conducive living environment for residents. This is a full-time residential role; selected candidates will live on campus in bachelor accommodation provided by the institution.

Key Responsibilities

• Supervise day-to-day hostel activities, including room allocation, check-ins/check-outs, and enforcement of hostel rules and discipline.
• Conduct regular inspections of rooms, common areas, and facilities to ensure cleanliness, hygiene, and maintenance standards.
• Ensure quality, hygiene, and timely availability of food in the mess/canteen. Coordinate with contractors/service providers for upkeep of common areas, sports rooms, recreation rooms, etc. Monitor the inventory of hostel supplies and ensure timely procurement
• Serve as the primary point of contact for residents' queries, complaints, grievances, and welfare needs, resolving issues promptly or escalating as required.
• Monitor security, including visitor management, night rounds, and coordination with campus security during emergencies.
• Supervise housekeeping and support staff assigned to the hostel block, ensuring timely upkeep and minor repairs.
• Organise resident orientations, meetings, and activities to promote positive community living, discipline, and cultural events.
• Maintain accurate records of occupancy, incidents, disciplinary actions, inventory, and maintenance requests.
• Collaborate with Hostel Manager, academic staff, and administration on student-related matters, events, and compliance.
• Ensure strict implementation of hostel rules and regulations. Monitor student entry/exit timings and maintain security protocols.
• Counsel students on behavioural, emotional, and academic issues (basic level) and escalate when needed.
• Implement safety protocols, including fire drills, emergency procedures, and health/sanitation measures.
• Report periodically on hostel operations, issues, and suggestions for improvement.

Qualifications and Experience

Graduate in any discipline; relevant experience in hostel/residential supervision preferred. Prior experience as Hostel Warden, Supervisor in student housing, or similar roles in educational institutions, preferably 2+ years.

For Male Warden: Experience managing male hostels/residences.

For Female Warden: Experience managing female hostels/residences.

Ex-servicemen or candidates with a disciplinary/administrative background are given preference.

• Strong interpersonal and communication skills with empathy, firmness, and approachability.
• Excellent organisational abilities and attention to detail for record-keeping and inspections.
• Ability to handle conflicts, emergencies, and sensitive student issues calmly and confidentially.
• Basic computer literacy for reports and documentation.
• Commitment to student welfare, discipline, and institutional values; willingness to work flexible hours, including nights/weekends.
