Job Title

Head of Department - SMS - Mechanical Maintenance - SteelTo lead and manage the mechanical maintenance functions across the entire steel plant, ensuring maximum equipment availability, reliability, and efficiency. Responsible for developing preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies that support uninterrupted operations, minimize downtime, and optimize maintenance costs.

Principal Accountabilities

Develop and implement long-term maintenance strategies for SMS, CCP, Rolling Mill, Bright Bar, and Seamless Pipe Plant. Define KPIs (Mean Time Between Failures, Mean Time To Repair, Equipment Availability, etc.. and drive performance improvement.Oversee preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of mechanical equipment such as:EAFs, LRFs, ladles, tundishes (SMS. Moulds, oscillators, withdrawal units, segment rolls (CCP. Rolling stands, gearboxes, conveyors, cooling beds (Rolling Mill. Draw benches, polishing machines (Bright Bar. Piercing mills, mandrel mills, stretch reducers (Seamless Pipe. Coordinate condition monitoring and root cause analysis for recurring failures.Lead and mentor a team of maintenance engineers, supervisors, and technicians. Conduct regular training and skill development programs. Ensure adherence to safety and compliance protocols during maintenance activities.Minimize unplanned breakdowns and optimize spare parts inventory. Prepare and control maintenance budgets, monitor expenses, and implement cost-saving initiatives.Participate in equipment upgradation, modernization, and capital project planning. Work with OEMs and contractors for installation, commissioning, and AMC support.Ensure all maintenance activities comply with safety standards, ISO/OHSAS norms, and regulatory requirements. Enforce strict adherence to lockout/tagout procedures and other safety systems.Collaborate with Production, Electrical, Automation, and Quality teams for seamless plant operations. Generate daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance reports for management.
