You'll be working closely with a well-established team located offshore. Job Purpose
The Bookkeeper is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely processing of bookkeeping activities, including client records, VAT returns, and management accounts. This role focuses on ensuring high standards of financial data integrity and supporting the Client Portfolio Lead through reliable reporting and compliance.

Duties & Responsibilities
Bookkeeping and financial reporting:
- Managing the processing of client paperwork and records using cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks Online (QBO), Sage, and KashFlow
- Ensure the timely and accurate preparation and submission of VAT returns, including partial exemption and Flat Rate Scheme (FRS) calculations
- Prepare management accounts and other financial reports to a high standard of accuracy
- Review and analyse bookkeeping data to identify anomalies, trends or issues escalating findings and insights to the Client Portfolio Lead
Operational Efficiency
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date client records in the company’s systems
- Contribute to the standardisation and improvement of bookkeeping workflows across the team
- Support the adoption and integration of cloud-based accounting systems to improve efficiency and accuracy
Compliance And Technical Knowledge
- Stay updated on VAT regulations, MTD requirements, GDPR, and other relevant technical developments
- Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements and internal policies
- Support process reviews and recommend improvements to enhance accuracy, compliance, and efficiency
General Administration
- Prepare letters, reports, and other documents as needed
- Maintain accurate client records in the company’s database system
Key Success Factors
- Accurate and timely delivery of bookkeeping services, VAT returns, and management accounts
- Maintenance of high-quality records and reliable reporting to support decision-making
- Compliance with all relevant regulations, including VAT, MTD, and GDPR
- Continuous improvement in bookkeeping processes and team efficiency
You Must Have
- Semi qualified CA (not mandatory) with 3+ years relevant experience
- Proven experienced candidate in bookkeeping roles within an accountancy practice or similar environment
- Strong knowledge of VAT regulations, including partial exemption rules and FRS
- Proficiency in cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks Online (QBO), Sage, or KashFlow (certifications desirable)
- Experience in preparing management accounts and financial reporting
- Familiarity with MTD requirements and GDPR compliance
- Highly organised with excellent attention to detail
- Proactive problem-solver with a focus on delivering high-quality work
- Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively within a team
- Collaborative team player who supports others while maintaining accountability for their own work
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet deadlines
- Flexibility to adapt to changing workloads or deadlines during peak periods (e.g., VAT deadlines)
