The Global Payroll Tax Manager at Globalli will lead all aspects of global payroll tax compliance across our enterprise SaaS payroll platform, supporting clients and internal operations in 125+ countries. This role is critical in ensuring accuracy, integrity, and timely execution of payroll tax obligations across diverse jurisdictions. Operating at the intersection of tax, compliance, and technology, you will drive best-in-class tax governance modeled after leading global accounting firms, while collaborating with cross-functional teams to uphold operational excellence.

What You'll Do
Global Payroll Tax Compliance
- Oversee the accurate calculation, reporting, and remittance of payroll taxes across all global jurisdictions supported by the Globalli platform.
- Maintain expert-level knowledge of global payroll tax laws, social security requirements, and regulatory reporting standards, including ongoing monitoring of legislative and statutory updates.
- Evaluate and implement changes arising from regulatory developments such as international tax reforms, social insurance changes, withholding tax updates, and country-specific payroll rules.
- Ensure all payroll tax processes adhere to local, federal, and international standards, including compliance with global frameworks such as OECD guidelines where applicable.
- Provide guidance on employer and employee tax liabilities across cross-border employment scenarios, remote workforce arrangements, and contractor engagements.
Process Governance, Documentation & Reporting
- Develop, implement, and maintain globally standardized payroll tax processes, documentation, and internal controls aligned to Big Four compliance methodologies.
- Lead the preparation, reconciliation, and submission of payroll tax filings, year-end reporting, statutory declarations, and compliance certifications across all countries.
- Ensure all tax reconciliations, remittances, and filings are completed accurately and within statutory deadlines, minimizing exposure to penalties.
- Create and refine dashboards, KPIs, and reporting packages for internal stakeholders, auditors, and regulatory authorities.
- Oversee data integrity controls involving HRIS, payroll systems, and tax reporting integrations.
Audit Support, Risk Management & Advisory
- Serve as the global subject matter expert for payroll tax across HR, Finance, Legal, Product, and Operations teams.
- Conduct regular risk assessments, identifying compliance gaps and implementing corrective controls to mitigate financial and operational risks.
- Provide expert advisory on complex payroll tax matters including employee classification, taxation of equity compensation, expatriate tax, shadow payroll requirements, and global mobility cases.
- Lead internal reviews and remediation projects to optimize tax accuracy and reduce exposure across all jurisdictions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Continuous Improvement
- Partner closely with payroll operations, engineering, and product teams to develop scalable tax logic, enhance automation, and support new market expansions.
- Drive process improvement initiatives using global benchmarks and tax technology best practices to streamline workflows and reduce manual intervention.
- Participate in large-scale implementations, onboarding of new countries, and integration of new tax updates into the Globalli platform.
- Support internal teams and clients by delivering training, tax briefings, and knowledge-sharing sessions on global payroll tax topics.
What You'll Bring
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Tax, or related field; Master's, CPA, ACCA, EA, or other tax/accounting certifications preferred.
- 5–8+ years of experience in global payroll tax, international payroll operations, or tax compliance—preferably within a Big Four or multinational environment.
- Deep understanding of international payroll tax regulations, statutory reporting requirements, social security systems, and employer compliance obligations.
- Experience managing multi-country payroll tax operations and working with global payroll providers or technology platforms.
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across global teams, cultures, and time zones.
- Proven ability to lead complex projects, meet tight deadlines, and manage competing priorities in a fast-paced global environment.
- Proficiency with HRIS, global payroll engines, reporting tools, and financial software; experience with tax technology transformation initiatives is a plus.
- Direct experience managing relationships with external auditors, tax advisors, regulatory bodies, and in-country compliance partners.
