The Lead – Taxation will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of direct and indirect taxation, ensuring compliance with Indian tax laws, managing audits, and optimizing tax planning strategies for the company. This role requires in-depth expertise in tax regulations, return filings and coordination with internal teams and external authorities. This role is critical for ensuring tax compliance, optimizing tax efficiencies, and driving strategic tax initiatives at Adama India.

Core responsibilities of the role are as follows:

Direct Taxation

  • Ensure compliance with Income Tax Act provisions, including corporate tax, transfer pricing, TDS, and advance tax computations.
  • Review and file corporate tax returns, transfer pricing documentation, and other statutory submissions.
  • Manage and oversee transfer pricing regulations, including preparing and maintaining transfer pricing documentation, ensuring compliance with arm’s length principles, and handling transfer pricing assessments and audits.
  • Liaise with tax authorities, external consultants, and legal teams for tax assessments, appeals, and litigation resolution.
  • Develop and implement tax-efficient strategies to optimize the company’s tax liabilities.
  • Manage APA (Advance Pricing Agreement) and BAPA (Bilateral Advance Pricing Agreement) processes.
  • Handle tax matters related to group entities in India, ensuring compliance with intercompany transactions, withholding tax provisions, and cross-border tax regulations.

Indirect Taxation

  • Ensure timely and accurate GST compliance, including monthly returns, reconciliations, and e-way bill management.
  • Oversee GST compliance across multiple states in India, ensuring adherence to state-specific GST regulations, filing state-wise returns, and managing GST registrations.
  • Handle GST audits, assessments, and dispute resolution processes.
  • Monitor changes in GST laws and regulations and advise management on their impact.
  • Ensure compliance with customs duty regulations for import/export transactions.

Audit & Compliance

  • Lead tax audits, statutory audits, and internal audits related to direct and indirect taxation.
  • Ensure end-to-end compliance with tax regulations, maintain structured documentation for audits, and proactively mitigate compliance risks.
  • Liaise with auditors, consultants, and regulatory authorities for timely resolution of tax matters.

Process Improvement & Team Leadership

  • Implement tax risk management strategies and best practices to enhance efficiency.
  • Lead and mentor a team of tax professionals, ensuring knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
  • Collaborate with finance, legal, and operations teams to ensure tax strategies align with overall business goals.
  • Automate and streamline tax compliance processes using ERP systems and technology solutions.

Monthly/Quarterly Closings & Audits

  • Oversee monthly/quarterly closings and ensure accurate tax provisions.
  • Work closely with internal and external audit teams to ensure compliance and address audit observations.

Qualification & Experience Requirements

  • Qualification: Chartered Accountant (CA)
  • Experience: 7–8 years of post-qualification experience in corporate taxation, preferably in the manufacturing or agrochemical sector.

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify risks and propose solutions proactively.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with stakeholders across different levels of management.
  • Ability to work in a matrix organization and collaborate effectively across departments.
  • In-depth knowledge of direct and indirect tax laws, best practices, and regulatory compliance.
  • Expertise in transfer pricing regulations and intercompany tax matters.
  • Strong understanding of GST compliance across multiple states in India.
  • Hands-on experience with APA & BAPA processes.
  • Proficiency in ERP systems and tax automation tools
