Job Description

Role & responsibilities

The candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing labor and employee relations initiatives and strategies in Otis India and ensuring the management of the Unions across the country.

On a typical day the position will:

  • Establish labor relations strategies regarding Otis Indias unionized workforce that align with and support Otis priorities and goals
  • Provide advice and counsel to management on all matters involving labor and employment law and labor contract interpretation and administration.
  • Participate in and contribute to key decisions relating to labor and employee relations strategies for Otis India
  • Ensure workplace compliance with labor laws and regulations
  • Ensure relationship with various Union for smooth functioning. Act as chief spokesperson for the Company in collective bargaining discussions.
  • Prepare, coordinate and assist with Company pre-negotiations collective bargaining strategy and the internal economic approval request process
  • The timely signing of CBA. Productivity is monitored based on the signed CBA.
  • Provide counsel and direction regarding employment practices; ensure compliance with Company policy, procedures, and programs; interpret and provide guidance to employees and managers
  • Prepare and present the Company's position in grievance meetings, arbitrations, and government agency proceedings
  • Conduct internal HR investigations and present findings/recommendations to management
  • Handling disciplinary actions, labor cases, legacy court cases
  • Statutory Compliance under Labor Act and Shops & Establishment Act
  • Develop and conduct management training programs and campaigns in support of Otis Indias labor and employee relations strategies What You Will Need to be Successful:
  • Previous experience working with and providing guidance to senior leadership in labor and employee relations.
  • Significant experience with conducting complex HR investigations, labor contract analysis and interpretation, collective bargaining negotiations and representing management in grievance, arbitration and agency proceedings with proven results.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of labor and employment laws and regulations.

JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Strong analytical and persuasive written/oral communications skills are critical.
  • Well-organized, self-motivated, process oriented, impeccable ethics and integrity, and a team player.
  • Ability to travel if needed. Business travel is estimated at about 15% to 20% of the managers time annually.

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

  • Preferred: Bachelors degree required.
  • Law degree and/or masters degree in industrial relations strongly preferred. Will consider Masters degree in related field and/or substantive equivalent experience

EXPERIENCE

  • 12-15 years of progressively responsible experience in the Labor Relations field or practice.
