Job Summary
The Full-Stack Web Applications Developer will build, customize, and maintain high-performance, secure WordPress-based web applications and sites for our customers. The role focuses on creating clean, well-documented code, developing and customizing themes and plugins, and ensuring reliable, high-quality user experiences aligned with our security-first, fully managed hosting environment.
Primary Responsibilities
- Develop, customize, and maintain WordPress websites using Avada, Divi, and custom themes, ensuring responsive, high-performance front-end experiences.
- Design, develop, and maintain custom WordPress plugins and themes using PHP, MySQL, JavaScript, and jQuery, following best practices and coding standards.
- Write clean, well-structured, and well-documented code, including inline documentation and technical documentation for features and changes.
- Collaborate with internal teams (support, project management, and other developers) to implement new features, troubleshoot issues, and improve existing solutions.
- Optimize websites and web applications for performance, security, and scalability, aligning with our security-first and high-availability environment.
- Use GitHub for version control, code reviews, and collaborative development workflows.
- Debug and resolve front-end and back-end issues in WordPress sites and custom web applications.
- Work during standard business hours in the Texas, USA time zone and communicate effectively in English (spoken and written) with team members and, when needed, customers.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong hands-on experience with WordPress, including custom theme and plugin development.
- Proficiency with Avada and Divi themes, including advanced customization and performance optimization.
- Solid knowledge of PHP and MySQL for building and maintaining dynamic, data-driven web applications.
- Strong front-end skills in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and jQuery, with a focus on responsive and cross-browser compatible interfaces.
- Experience using GitHub or similar version control platforms in a collaborative development environment.
- Ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code and follow established coding standards and best practices.
- Excellent English communication skills (reading, writing, and speaking).
- Ability and willingness to work aligned with Texas, USA business hours.
- Strong understanding of web application security fundamentals, including common vulnerabilities such as XSS, CSRF, SQL injection, authentication/authorization flaws, and input validation.
- Experience implementing secure coding practices in PHP, JavaScript, and WordPress (proper escaping/sanitization, prepared statements, secure session handling, password hashing).
- Hands-on experience with WordPress security hardening, including managing updates, secure configuration, user roles/permissions, security plugins, and protection against brute-force/bot attacks.
- Familiarity with TLS/HTTPS, certificate management concepts, and secure configuration of web servers and reverse proxies at a high level.
- Understanding of cloud security best practices (least-privilege IAM, secure storage of secrets, network security groups/firewalls, encryption at rest and in transit).
- Experience working with backups, disaster recovery concepts, and incident response basics (detecting, triaging, and mitigating security or availability incidents).
- Ability to use monitoring and logging tools to detect performance and security issues (error logs, access logs, application monitoring, security alerts)

Must-Have:
- 3+ years of professional WordPress development experience
- Advanced PHP skills (OOP, design patterns, debugging)
- WordPress plugin and theme development from scratch
- Avada and Divi theme customization expertise
- MySQL database design and optimization
- JavaScript/jQuery and front-end skills (HTML, CSS)
- Version control (GitHub) in team environments
Nice-to-Have:
- REST API development experience
- Performance optimization and caching strategies
- Hosting environment knowledge (cloud servers, server configurations)
- Experience with continuous integration/deployment tools
- Familiarity with WordPress testing frameworks
- Experience with PHP frameworks such as Laravel, CakePHP, Symfony, or Zend for building scalable web applications
- Hands-on experience with Golang, AWS Lambda, and DynamoDB for building and maintaining serverless or event-driven services
- Understanding of micro-services architecture, including service boundaries, communication patterns, and observability concepts
- Experience with Node.js, TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, and Express.js for building modern full-stack JavaScript applications
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Claude, ChatGPT) and ability to use them responsibly to improve productivity
- Strong grasp of system design principles, SOLID principles, and the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
- Experience with DevOps practices and tools, including Docker, Kubernetes, and CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, or similar)
