About the role:
Roles and Responsibilities-
- Lead the Firmware development process from conceptualization and solution architecture to library design, logic development, firmware up to mass manufacturing hand-off
- Design, develop, test, and maintain robust and efficient firmware for embedded systems using C and C+.
- Collaborate closely with hardware engineers to bring up new boards, define hardware/firmware interfaces, and debug issues at the system level
- Implement and debug communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, CAN, and wireless protocols like Wi-Fi, BLE, and MQTT
- Create and maintain clear technical documentation, including design specifications, test plans, and code comments, to ensure knowledge sharing and project continuity
- Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve firmware bugs using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and software debuggers
- Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality, performance, and adherence to coding standards.
- Develop and optimize algorithms for signal processing, control systems, data analysis, and other relevant applications.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to define hardware/firmware interfaces and specifications.
- Work closely with software developers to integrate firmware with higher-level software components and ensure seamless functionality.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and emerging technologies in firmware development and algorithm design.
- Collaborate with product managers to define project requirements, scope, and timelines, and actively participate in project planning and execution.
Skills Required-
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
- 0-3 years of experience in firmware development, algorithm design, and implementation for electronic systems.
- The candidate must have a deep understanding of C/C++, specifically for embedded systems, including :
- Expertise in pointers, memory management, bit-wise operations, and data structures.
- Experience with register-level programming (bare-metal) to directly manipulate hardware peripherals
- A solid grasp of microcontroller architecture (e.g., ARM Cortex-M) and hands-on experience with at least one major MCU family, such as STM32, ESP32, or NXP
- Communication protocols :
Embedded protocols
: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN (additional benefit), RS-485Wireless protocols:
MQTT, HTTP/HTTPS, Bluetooth/BLE, Wi-Fi, Cellular- Practical knowledge of an RTOS, preferably FreeRTOS, tasks, semaphores, mutexes, queues, and how to debug multitasking issues.
- Expertise in tools: VSCode(highly recommended), Eclipse IDE, PlatformIO, , cmake, openCPU (highly recommended)
- Frameworks: ESP-IDF, Arduino(recommended),STM32 CUBEIDE
- Clear concepts of Computer Organization and Architecture, and Computer Networking
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
