How will you make an impact in this role?

This role is for a Financial Systems Analyst to provide technical production support in the Finance Automation Center of Excellence. This position will require high technical knowledge teamed with leadership qualities and work very closely with Business Partners, developers and Product owners in a highly agile and collaborative environment.

American Express Finance is looking for a motivated individual with software development skills to join a dynamic and innovative development team. Our team analyzes manual processes to identify next generation options and builds sustainable automation solutions.

A successful candidate will be a strong blend of a business analyst and a software developer with a history of creative problem solving and building collaborative relationships.

This position is a Financial Systems Analyst – Member of a delivery and integration team currently reporting to a Financial Systems Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyzes business partner needs to create optimal process flow and design sustainable solutions
  • Performs technical aspects of software development for assigned applications
  • Creates documentation and knowledge transfer with frontline support team
  • Supports process availability through analysis and remediation of production issues
  • Designs and builds integration components and interfaces in collaboration with Architects and Infrastructure Engineers as necessary
  • Contributes to decisions about tools, methods, and approaches
  • Performs unit and assembly testing of software components including the design, implementation, evaluation, and execution of unit and assembly tests
  • Conducts code reviews and builds test automation
    Performs ongoing refactoring of code and continuously improves product
  • Identifies opportunities to adopt innovative technologies
  • Understands impact on disparate systems, business units and long-term impact of technical design decisions
  • Focused on cost savings, high performance, high reliability, quality of user experience and architectural alignment of solutions

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • Minimum 3 years of Object-Oriented Programming experience like Java
  • Experience with Apache Spark preferred for Big Data
  • React (preferred)
  • Experience with Splunk (preferred)
  • Experience with Agile methodology
  • Strong grasp of software development lifecycle methodology
  • Hands on experience in working with applications using Java 8 or higher, REST APIs
  • Hands on experience in RDBMS (SQL/Oracle or similar)
  • Must possess strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey messages across process stakeholders like end users, product owners and developers.
  • Must be able to thrive in an environment of heavy team interaction and collaboration

Educational Requirement:

Preferably a Bachelor or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other Technical discipline.
