Role :--Finance Controller-Commodity Trading

Location:- Chennai

Key Responsibilities

 Manage day-to-day finance and accounting operations for the commodity trading desk

and related entities (GL, AP, AR, bank reconciliations, accruals, provisions, MIS).

 Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with

applicable accounting standards and group policies.

 Consolidate financials for multiple countries and subsidiaries, ensuring timely and

accurate reporting, eliminations, and inter-company reconciliations.

 Oversee budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis; provide actionable insights on

trading performance, margins, and costs.

 Monitor and analyse P&L by product, market, and entity, including trading margins,

inventory valuation, and hedging impact.

 Implement and strengthen internal controls, financial policies, and SOPs across entities

and geographies.

 Coordinate with auditors, tax consultants, and regulatory authorities to ensure statutory

and tax compliance in relevant jurisdictions.

 Partner with trading, risk, operations, and treasury teams to support deal structuring,

working capital management, and risk mitigation.

 Drive process improvements, automation, and standardisation of reporting across

countries and subsidiaries.

 Ensure accurate and timely management reports to senior management and group

finance.

Candidate Profile

 Education: MBA (Finance)

 Experience: 3–4 years of post-qualification experience as a Finance/Financial Controller

or Senior Accountant in a commodity trading company (metals, agri, energy, etc.) or

related trading environment.

 Strong understanding of commodity trading flows, trade lifecycle, and related

accounting (inventory, FX, LC, hedging, fair value, etc.).

 Experience handling finance for multiple countries/subsidiaries, including consolidation

and inter-company transactions.

 Good knowledge of applicable accounting standards, taxation basics, and statutory

compliances.

 Proficiency in Excel and experience with ERP/accounting systems; exposure to trading or

risk systems is an advantage.

 Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and numerical skills with attention to detail.

 Strong communication skills and ability to work with cross-functional and cross-border

teams.

 High integrity, ownership mindset, and ability to operate in a fast-paced, dynamic

trading environment.
