Armstrong Fluid Technology is more than just a leader in our industry; we are a community of the brightest and most creative minds, driven by a shared mission to engineer the future and safeguard our planet.

As part of our team, you'll be immersed in an environment that fosters growth, creativity, and collaboration. Here, you'll have the opportunity to push boundaries, tackle exciting challenges, and develop cutting-edge solutions that promote energy efficiency and reduce environmental impact. Every day offers the chance to make a meaningful contribution to a more sustainable future, driving innovations that help lower global carbon footprints. Together, we’re creating a legacy that goes beyond business—one that’s changing the world for the better.

Position Summary

Mechanical Design Engineer

In this role, you’ll collaborate across disciplines, support rapid prototyping, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives—all while maintaining high standards of documentation and compliance within a PLM environment.

Key Responsibilities

Product & Component Design

  • Design mechanical parts, systems, and assemblies using CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred; CATIA, Creo, or Pro-E acceptable).
  • Ensure designs meet performance, reliability, and aesthetic requirements.

3D Modeling & Drafting

  • Create accurate 3D models and detailed 2D drawings with tolerances, material specifications, and manufacturing notes.
  • Utilize

CAD automation scripts and AI-driven design assistants

to reduce design cycle time and eliminate repetitive tasks.

Engineering Analysis & Simulation

  • Perform engineering calculations (stress, strain, thermal, vibration).
  • Support or conduct simulations (FEA, CFD) to validate design performance under operational conditions.

Material & Component Selection

  • Select suitable materials based on strength, cost, thermal/electrical properties, and ease of manufacturing.

Prototype Development & Testing

  • Support or lead prototype development and testing activities.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and vendors during prototype fabrication.

Design for Manufacturability & Assembly (DFM/DFA)

  • Optimize designs for manufacturing and assembly processes such as machining, casting, and injection molding.
  • Integrate AI-based design tools to evaluate manufacturability early in the design phase.\

Cross-functional & Vendor Collaboration

  • Coordinate with electrical, electronics, and software teams to ensure integrated product development.
  • Collaborate with suppliers for custom parts and review external documentation.

Automation & AI Integration

  • Leverage AI-assisted CAD features

and rule-based design tools to automate repetitive design tasks.
  • Use

parameter-driven modeling, design templates, and macros

    to accelerate product development.
  • Contribute to the implementation of smart design systems, reducing errors and increasing design efficiency

Documentation & Standards Compliance

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date engineering documentation (BOMs, ECNs, CE/PED compliance).
  • Follow industry standards such as ASME, ISO, and DIN.
  • Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Identify opportunities for design enhancements, cost reduction, and performance optimization.
  • Champion the use of automation tools and emerging technologies to increase productivity.

Technical Support

  • Assist sales, service, and application engineering teams with technical queries and customer-specific requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

  • Education:

Diploma or B.E./B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering or Tool & Die Design from a recognized institute.
  • Experience:

3–5 years of hands-on experience in mechanical design, preferably in the pumping products or related industries.
  • CAD Proficiency:

Skilled in SolidWorks (preferred), UGNX, CATIA, or Pro-E.
  • Certifications:

Certified SolidWorks Professional (CSWP) is a plus.
  • Knowledge Areas:

  • Strong understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5)
  • Experience with AI-assisted design workflows or CAD automation scripting (e.g., DriveWorks, iLogic, macros)
  • Familiarity with PLM and ERP systems
  • Understanding of ECR/ECO processes
  • Knowledge of material selection and mechanical properties
  • Soft Skills:

Excellent communication, cross-functional collaboration, and a proactive mindset toward innovation.
