Donaldson is committed to solving the world’s most complex filtration challenges. Together, we make cool things. As an established technology and innovation leader, we are continuously evolving to meet the filtration needs of our changing world. Join a culture of collaboration and innovation that matters and a chance to learn, effect change, and make meaningful contributions at work and in communities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize simulation tools (Ansys) and analytical skills to evaluate fluid flow systems and recommend design improvements across various stages of the product development lifecycle.
- Support global engineering teams across the US, EMEA, and APAC with advanced CFD analysis related to filtration systems and exhaust SCR systems.
- Lead efforts to enhance virtual validation and reduce physical testing by developing computational best practices, increasing simulation fidelity, and validating simulations against experimental data (flow benches and analytical tools).
- Build and validate CFD models from CAD (NX/Pro-E) and/or create parametric models to conduct design sensitivity and trade-off analyses.
- Apply optimization methods and surrogate modeling techniques to explore design space and recommend performance-optimal solutions.
- Contribute technical expertise to global product development initiatives and provide actionable design guidance.
Qualifications:
- M.E./ M.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering/ Automotive Engineering/ Chemical Engineering or a related discipline
- Minimum 5 years of hand-on experience with Ansys Fluent for complex fluid systems.
Technical Skills:
- Solid foundation in fluid mechanics and computational methods related to fluid flow and heat transfer.
- Hands-on experience in steady and unsteady fluid flow analysis, thermal simulations including conjugate heat transfer, and multiphase modeling (spray, particle tracking, wall film, and Volume of Fluid (VOF) methods).
- Practical experience using Ansys software, particularly in engine exhaust after-treatment systems such as SCR mixing. Exposure to setup, simulation, and interpretation of complex flow phenomena.
- Working knowledge of multi-objective optimization techniques and surrogate modeling approaches for design exploration and performance improvement.
- Proficiency in scripting (e.g., Python, APDL, etc.) to automate simulation workflows.
- Knowledge of distributed computing, job schedulers, and performance tuning for running large-scale simulations efficiently.
- Awareness of digital thread concepts and simulation data integration in product lifecycle management (PLM) systems.
- Experience working with CAD tools such as Uni-Graphics (NX) and/or PTC Creo (Pro/E) for design modeling and geometry preparation.
- Strong ability to read, interpret, and analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
Soft Skills:
- Self-motivated, proactive problem-solver with a strong sense of ownership.
- Excellent collaboration skills across time zones and cultures.
- Effective communicator and adept at resolving technical queries.
- Willingness and ability to work flexible hours and across multiple time zones as required to meet project demands
