ROLE SUMMARY

designing, reviewing, testing, and commissioning

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Scheme Engineering

• Prepare

  schematic diagrams

  ,

  interlocking schemes

  ,

  control wiring diagrams

  , and

  logic drawings

  .
• Develop

  single line diagrams (SLD)

  and GA drawings.
• Coordinate with protection & automation teams to finalize schemes.
• Prepare cable schedules, bill of materials (BOM), and terminal details.
• Review customer technical specifications and standards.

2. SAS (Substation Automation System) Engineering

• Configuration and integration of

  IEDs

  ,

  gateway/BCU

  , and

  HMI/SCADA panels

  .
• Creation of IEC-61850 communication models, GOOSE messaging, and MMS configuration.
• Prepare IED configuration using vendor tools (Schneider, ABB, Siemens, GE, SEL etc.).
• Perform FAT/SAT for SAS cubicles and automation panels.
• Experience with protocols:

  IEC 61850, Modbus TCP, DNP3, IEC 104

  .

3. Protection Engineering

• Setting & configuration of numerical relays (ABB, Siemens, Schneider, SEL, GE, Alstom).
• Understand and develop protection philosophies:
• Overcurrent, Earth Fault, Differential
• Distance / REF / Generator protection
• Transformer / Feeder / Bus protection
• Perform

  relay coordination studies

  &

  fault level calculations

  .
• Prepare protection setting reports (PSR).
• Support during commissioning of HT protection systems (11kV, 33kV, 66kV, 110kV, 220kV).

4. HT & LT Panel Engineering

• Design and engineering of:

• HT switchgear panels (VCB, RMU, GIS)

• LT panels (MCC, PCC, PMCC, APFC, Synchronization, AMF)

• Control & Relay Panels (CRP)

• SCADA / PLC / Automation panels

• Review vendor drawings, wiring diagrams, and BOQ.
• Knowledge of busbar sizing, heat dissipation, short-circuit calculations.
• Coordination with production for panel assembly & wiring checks.

5. Testing & Commissioning Support

• Perform FAT / SAT for panels, relays, SAS, and schemes.
• Conduct panel inspection, wiring verification, logic testing.
• Site support for energization and troubleshooting.

6. Documentation & Compliance

• Ensure compliance with IEC, IS, IEEE, and utility standards.
• Prepare method statements, test reports, and as-built drawings.
• Liaise with clients, consultants, and utilities for approvals.

REQUIRED SKILLS

• Strong knowledge of

  Protection Schemes & Logic

• Experience in

  HT/LT Switchgear & Panels

• Hands-on with

  numerical relays

  (ABB/Siemens/Schneider/SEL/GE/Alstom)
• Understanding of

  IEC-61850

  & substation automation
• Ability to read & create electrical drawings (AutoCAD / EPLAN)
• Relay testing tools knowledge (OMICRON / Megger)
• Fault analysis & protection coordination
• Basic PLC/SCADA knowledge (optional but preferred)

QUALIFICATION

• BE / B.Tech / Diploma in

  Electrical / Electronics / EEE

• Additional certification in protection/SAS is a plus.
