- In this role, you will lead the design and development of core engine components including 5C Components, Structures, Cylinder Pack and Lube / Cooling systems.
Flexible approach to work across multiple components is essential.
- Handle both New Product Introduction (NPI) and Current Product Improvement (CPI) projects including cost optimization efforts like resourcing and rationalization as well as Engineering guidance for Field, Assembly and Quality related Issues.
- Lead engineering activities across the entire product lifecycle from requirement gathering through launch and into production for component and system-level projects, with a strong emphasis on achieving cost, quality and delivery targets. Actively engage with customers, product groups and SMPs throughout execution to ensure alignment and success.
- Perform design calculations, initiate innovative ideas, support design failure model and effect analysis (DFMEA) and develop validation plan.
- Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams including manufacturing, quality and suppliers to ensure seamless and successful product development.
- Manage multiple projects and effectively communicate progress on cost, quality and timeline target to stakeholders including customer, suppliers, team members and other cross functional teams.
- Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans to ensure successful execution of projects.
Education Requirement:
- BE Mechanical engineering with 8 or more years of relevant experience in engine industry (or)
- ME / MTech Mechanical engineering (specialization in IC engines / Engineering Design / Thermal engineering) with 6 or more years of relevant experience in engine industry (ideal candidate).
Skill Sets / Competencies (Must Have):
- Strong Product knowledge of Core engine systems.
- Product knowledge of core engine components like 5C components, Bearings, Dampers, Gears, Major forgings and castings.
- Experience in New Product Introduction (from Concept to Production) and expertise in applying Value analysis / Value engineering techniques.
- Capability to design components that meet reliability & durability requirements and with manufacturing feasibility.
- Hands-on experience with CAD tools such as Creo, along with working knowledge of simulation technologies including Stress Analysis, Thermo-Mechanical Fatigue (TMF) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).
- Extensive knowledge to apply GD&T to meet functional requirements.
- Knowledge on Data extraction, regression analysis and problem solving.
- Excellent Project Management, verbal / written communication and interpersonal skills.
TOP CANDIDATES Will Have:
- Advanced degree from a reputed institution.
- Over 5 years of experience in Core engine component design and development, collaborating with global and regional teams.
- Experience in working with regional suppliers for core engine component development.
- Good knowledge of cross functional roles in domains such as Manufacturing, Purchasing, Quality, related to engines.
