Job Title: SHE Officer / Assistant Manager – Safety, Health & Environment Department: EHS / Factory Operations Reporting To: Factory Manager / Head – EHS / Operations Head Employment Type: Full-Time Job Summary: We are seeking a dedicated and experienced SHE (Safety, Health & Environment) professional to lead and manage safety and environmental initiatives within the factory. The role involves implementing safety standards, ensuring regulatory compliance, conducting risk assessments, and promoting a strong safety culture across the site. The ideal candidate will also oversee the Food Safety Management System (FSMS), act as a liaison with external regulatory bodies, and contribute to continuous improvement in SHE performance. Key Responsibilities:1. Safety Culture & Risk Management Foster a proactive and positive safety culture within the factory environment. Conduct Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment (HIRA) and implement control measures to minimize risk levels. Lead daily safety walks and immediately address unsafe conditions and acts in coordination with relevant departments. Ensure 100% compliance with Permit to Work (PTW) systems for all non-routine and hazardous jobs. Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance safe work practices and raise safety awareness. 2. SHE Compliance & Policy Implementation Ensure full compliance with internal SHE policies, standards, and procedures across all plant operations. Monitor and implement safety and environmental compliance as per the company’s long-term road map and national legislation. Act as the SHE Management Representative, ensuring adherence to ISO standards (ISO 14001, ISO 45001, etc.). Keep abreast of all relevant legal requirements related to SHE and ensure their implementation at the site. 3. Training & Awareness Develop and execute safety training programs for all employees, contractors, and visitors. Conduct toolbox talks, mock drills, and awareness sessions to reinforce safe behaviors and emergency preparedness. 4. Audits, Reporting & KPIs Perform internal SHE audits and inspections, document findings, and recommend corrective/preventive actions. Participate in incident/accident investigations, determine root causes, and track the implementation of corrective measures. Manage and report SHE statistics (LTI, MTI, Near Misses, Unsafe Acts/Conditions, etc.) to management. Establish and monitor annual SHE Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and ensure timely achievement. 5. FSMS Management Ensure that the Food Safety Management System (FSMS) is established, implemented, and maintained in the factory. Report regularly on FSMS performance, effectiveness, and suitability to factory management. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to uphold food safety standards and respond to any FSMS deviations. 6. Chemicals and MSDS Compliance Ensure Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) are maintained and readily available for all chemicals used on-site. Educate employees on chemical handling, storage, and disposal in line with SHE and FSMS guidelines. 7. External Liaison & Stakeholder Engagement Liaise with external agencies (Pollution Control Board, Fire Department, etc.) on SHE and environmental matters in consultation with the Factory Manager. Collaborate effectively with internal departments – Production, Engineering, S&R, Security, HR – to drive SHE compliance and goals. Qualifications & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, or Environment; Diploma in Industrial Safety (mandatory). 5–8 years of experience in SHE roles in manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial setups. Certified in ISO 45001 / 14001 / FSMS preferred. Familiarity with Indian SHE legislation, risk assessment tools, and safety systems. Key Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of HIRA, FSMS, SHE regulations, and compliance frameworks. Excellent communication, training, and stakeholder management skills. Analytical mindset with the ability to investigate and resolve complex safety issues. High attention to detail and commitment to continuous improvement.
