Job Description

The Deputy Manager (Merchandising) is responsible for managing end-to-end merchandising activities including all operations of production merchandising including fabric and trims calculation, management of product sample submission and approvals, and good buyer communication. The role demands strong analytical, negotiation, and team management skills to ensure timely delivery, quality standards, and profitability. 4-5 years of experience in DMM role in an export house/reputed garment factory in NCR is a must.

Key Responsibilities

1. Buyer Management

* Act as a key point of contact between buyers and the company.

* Understand buyer requirements, specifications, and expectations.

* Handle buyer communications, approvals, and sample submissions.

2. Product Development

* Coordinate with design and sampling teams for product development.

* Ensure correct interpretation of buyer’s tech packs, mood boards, and specifications.

* Work on sourcing of trims, fabrics, and raw materials.

3. Costing & Pricing

* Prepare accurate cost sheets considering fabric, trims, labour, and overheads.

* Negotiate costing with vendors and buyers to achieve profitable margins.

* Support management in finalizing price negotiations.

4. Order Execution

* Ensure smooth order execution from order receipt to shipment.

* Monitor production timelines, approvals, and quality checkpoints.

* Coordinate with production, QA, sourcing, and logistics teams.

5. Supply Chain & Vendor Coordination

* Build and maintain strong vendor relationships for timely material sourcing.

* Ensure compliance with quality and social standards.

* Monitor vendor performance and capacity utilization.

6. Reporting & Analysis

* Prepare order status reports, T&A (Time & Action) calendars, and MIS.

* Track and analyse performance, highlight bottlenecks, and provide solutions.

* Present periodic updates to senior management.

7. Team Management

* Guide and mentor merchandisers and sampling coordinators.

* Allocate work responsibilities and monitor performance.

* Train team on merchandising processes and buyer expectations.

Key Skills Required

* Strong knowledge of apparel merchandising, fabrics, trims, and production processes.

* Proficiency in cost analysis, T&A management, and order follow-up.

* Excellent communication & negotiation skills (buyer/vendor handling).

* Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making ability.

* Knowledge of compliance standards (social, quality, safety).

* Computer proficiency (Excel, ERP, PLM tools).

Qualification & Experience

* Graduate in Textiles/Fashion Technology/Apparel Management(preferred).

* 8–12 years of experience in merchandising, with at least 4–5 years in a supervisory/managerial role.

* Prior experience in garment export house or reputed garment production factory of minimum 200 machines is a must.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per month

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Gurgaon, Haryana: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
