Job Description

This is a full time role with our client which is a global automobile org (for their captive finance arm).
This position will be responsible for designing, reviewing, and implementing credit underwriting policies for wholesale lending to automobile dealers. The role ensures credit proposals are evaluated within the defined risk appetite, regulatory framework, and business objectives of the NBFC.Duties and Responsibilities-Policy Development & Governance
  • Draft, implement, and periodically review credit underwriting policies for dealer / distributor finance (floor-plan, inventory, trade receivables, etc.).
  • Ensure policies align with RBI NBFC directions, internal risk appetite, and group-level guidelines.
  • Establish risk acceptance criteria, exposure limits, and exception approval frameworks.
  • Maintain delegation of authority (DOA) for credit decision-making.
Underwriting & Risk Assessment
  • Evaluate dealer financials, business performance, repayment capacity, and relationship history.
  • Conduct due diligence on dealers, distributors, and OEM-linked counterparties.
  • Apply risk rating models, credit scoring frameworks, and early warning indicators.
  • Recommend approval, rejection, or modifications in dealer credit lines.
  • Coordinate with business, risk, and legal teams to structure secure transactions.
Portfolio Monitoring & Control
  • Monitor policy adherence across the dealer network and identify deviations.
  • Track portfolio quality, concentration risks, and stress scenarios.
  • Work closely with collections and risk monitoring teams for early intervention.
  • Contribute to periodic policy reviews based on portfolio performance and market conditions.
Stakeholder Management & Compliance
  • Support regulatory compliance in credit underwriting (RBI, KYC, AML norms).
  • Liaise with internal and external auditors for credit-related inspections.
  • Train credit & business teams on underwriting policies and risk evaluation.
Knowledge and Skills -
  • Strong understanding of wholesale / dealer finance underwriting.
  • Proficiency in financial statement analysis, ratio analysis, cash flow assessment.
  • Knowledge of RBI NBFC credit regulations and risk management frameworks.
  • Ability to design and implement credit policies, exposure limits, and controls.
  • Analytical mindset with decision-making ability.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.
Education and Experience -
  • MBA (Finance) / CA / CFA / PG in Risk / Credit Management.
  • 5+ years in credit underwriting / policy formulation, preferably in NBFC (wholesale lending, dealer finance), captive finance, or commercial banking.
  • Certifications (preferred): FRM, Credit Risk Certification, or equivalent.
