Job Description

Job Title: Database Administrator – Oracle RAC & GoldenGate Specialist Department: IT Infrastructure / Database Administration Location: [Location] Reporting To: IT Manager / DBA Lead Job Purpose: To manage, administer, and optimize Oracle database environments, including RAC (Real Application Clusters), Data Guard, and GoldenGate replication. This role is responsible for database installation, upgrades, performance tuning, and ensuring high availability, reliability, and security of enterprise databases. Key Roles & Responsibilities: Database Management: Install, configure, and manage Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) environments for high availability. Perform upgrades, patching, and migrations of Oracle databases. Implement and manage Oracle Data Guard for disaster recovery and business continuity. Set up and manage Oracle GoldenGate for real-time data replication and high availability. Performance Optimization: Conduct SQL tuning and performance tuning to optimize query performance and overall database efficiency. Monitor database performance, resource utilization, and proactively troubleshoot issues. Optimize storage, memory, and CPU usage for high database efficiency. Operational Support: Ensure database uptime, availability, and stability across production, development, and test environments. Perform backup, recovery, and disaster recovery planning using RMAN and Data Guard. Collaborate with development and application teams to resolve database-related issues. Security and Compliance: Implement and monitor database security policies, user access controls, and encryption mechanisms. Regularly apply security patches and upgrades to ensure compliance with standards. Documentation & Reporting: Maintain comprehensive documentation of configurations, procedures, and changes. Generate regular reports on database health, performance metrics, and incident resolutions. Required Skills & Competencies: Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with Oracle RAC installation, configuration, and management. Strong expertise in Oracle Data Guard setup and failover testing. Proficiency in Oracle GoldenGate configuration and troubleshooting. Expertise in SQL tuning, database performance tuning, and troubleshooting. Knowledge of Oracle ASM, RMAN backup/recovery, and Linux/Unix environments. Soft Skills: Strong problem-solving and analytical skills. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities. Ability to work under pressure and handle critical incidents. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field. Oracle certifications preferred (OCP, OCE in RAC/GoldenGate/Data Guard). Experience:5 to 10 years of relevant experience in Oracle DBA roles with expertise in RAC, Data Guard, and GoldenGate. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs):99.9% database uptime. Zero critical outages or performance degradations. On-time completion of upgrades, patches, and disaster recovery drills. Efficient resolution of database incidents within SLA.
