Cost Accountant

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Collect and analyze cost data related to production, labor, materials, and overhead.
• Maintain and update cost accounting systems and expense databases to ensure data accuracy and integrity.
• Prepare and distribute monthly, quarterly, and annual cost reports, forecasts, and budgets to management.
• Conduct detailed variance analysis by comparing standard costs to actual costs, investigating discrepancies, and reporting on the causes of variances.
• Financial & Operational Collaboration:
• Collaborate with department heads (e.g., Production, Operations, Supply Chain) to establish accurate cost standards and develop departmental budgets.
• Recommend cost-saving strategies and process improvements by providing data-driven insights to leadership.
• Monitor inventory levels, perform inventory reconciliations, and assist in conducting physical inventory audits to ensure accuracy and minimize waste.
• Financial Controls & Compliance:
• Assist in month-end and year-end financial closings, including preparing journal entries and reconciling accounts.
• Ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), company policies, and internal controls.
• Participate in internal and external audits by providing necessary cost documentation and analysis.

Qualifications

Education:

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• Professional certifications such as CMA (Certified Management Accountant) or CPA (Certified Public Accountant) are highly preferred.

Experience:

• 10-20 years of experience in a cost accounting or financial analysis role, preferably in a manufacturing or similar industry.
• Demonstrated experience with costing methodologies (e.g., standard costing, activity-based costing).

Technical Skills:

• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (e.g., PivotTables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling).
• Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP) and cost accounting software.
• Strong data analysis skills with the ability to use tools like SQL, Power BI, or Tableau to extract and visualize data.

• Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities with a strong attention to detail.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and meet tight deadlines.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹50,000.00 - ₹100,000.00 per month
