Compliance Specialist

Key Responsibilities

Regulatory Oversight

• Monitor daily operations to ensure compliance with FDCPA, CFPB guidelines, TCPA, GLBA, UDAAP, and applicable state debt collection laws
• Support the development, implementation, and maintenance of compliance policies, procedures, and internal controls

Audit & Monitoring

• Conduct internal audits of account activity and communication logs
• Prepare for and manage external audits conducted by clients or regulatory bodies

Complaint Management

• Investigate, document, and respond to consumer complaints from all channels (direct complaints, CFPB, BBB, etc.)
• Analyze complaint trends and recommend corrective and preventive actions

Training & Awareness

• Develop and deliver compliance training for new hires and ongoing employee certification
• Partner with department leaders to promote a consistent and proactive compliance culture

Risk Assessment

• Identify potential compliance risks and escalate concerns with recommended mitigation strategies
• Stay current on regulatory changes and communicate impacts to leadership

Vendor & Data Privacy Oversight

• Ensure third-party vendors handling consumer data comply with company security and privacy standards

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree
• 3–5 years of experience in compliance or risk management within the debt collection industry
• Strong working knowledge of FDCPA, CFPB, TCPA, and UDAAP regulations
• Excellent analytical, investigative, and problem-solving skills
• Strong written and verbal communication abilities
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
