Qualification / Experience:

Bachelor’s / Master’s in Mechanical Engineering / Metallurgical Engineering

8 to 14 years’ experience in Wind Industry / Industrial Gear Box / Earth Moving / Heavy Engineering or Commercial Vehicle Industries.


Job Summary:

The Commodity Manager – Casting is responsible for developing and executing sourcing strategies for castings and foundry components to ensure optimal cost, quality, and supply performance. This role involves supplier development, cost analysis, negotiation, and close collaboration with cross-functional teams including Engineering, Quality, and Operations to meet business objectives. The incumbent will manage supplier relationships, drive continuous improvement, and align with global procurement strategies for casting commodities such as ferrous and non-ferrous materials.

Vendor Development, Localization, Global Sourcing, and Techno-Commercial Management.


Software Proficiency:

  • SAP MM Module
  • MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) – Advanced proficiency


Technical Skills & Key Responsibilities:

  • Strong knowledge of

    foundry operations and practices.

  • Hands-on experience with Grey Iron and SG Iron heavy casting development.
  • Proven track record in casting design and development.
  • Expertise in Resin Sand Molding processes and foundry production techniques.
  • Sound understanding of casting cost analysis (per kg cost, pattern, and mold box cost estimation).
  • Familiar with

    MMR

    and other commercial evaluation tools.
  • Demonstrated experience

    in Vendor Development, Strategic Sourcing, Localization Projects, and Global Sourcing.

  • Strong Techno-Commercial acumen with experience in finalizing rate contracts and long-term agreements.
  • Skilled in capacity planning with suppliers and identifying new sources for localization initiatives.
  • Proficient in cost optimization and cost-saving initiatives.
  • Capable of conducting new supplier assessment, qualification, and onboarding.
  • Effective coordination with various foundry stakeholders to ensure timely project execution.
