Key Responsibilities:
o Design and develop electrical systems for wind energy projects, including generators, transformers, power converters, and grid connections.
o Collaborate with mechanical and civil engineers to integrate electrical systems into overall wind turbine design.
o Develop and optimize electrical layouts for wind farms, USS (Unit Substation) ensuring efficient energy production and transmission.
- System Analysis and Optimization:
o Conduct electrical system simulations and analyses to evaluate performance, reliability, and safety.
o Perform power flow studies, load flow analysis, and fault analysis for wind energy projects.
o Optimize the electrical design for cost, efficiency, and regulatory compliance.
o Coordinate with project managers and stakeholders to ensure timely delivery of electrical engineering components.
o Prepare and review technical documentation, including specifications, reports, and drawings.
o Assist in budgeting, scheduling, and resource planning for electrical aspects of wind energy projects.
- Compliance and Standards:
o Ensure that all electrical designs meet industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
o Stay updated on the latest developments in wind energy technology and electrical engineering best practices.
o Participate in risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies for electrical systems.
- Testing and Commissioning:
o Oversee the testing and commissioning procesdures of electrical systems in wind turbines and wind farms.
o Troubleshoot and resolve issues related to electrical systems during the commissioning phase.
o Provide technical support during the operation and maintenance of wind energy projects.
Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field. A Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering is preferred.
o Completed knowledge of USS electrical layout,earthing layout,wind turbine electrical system and its associated interfacing power curve.
o Able to calculate the electrical system losses of wind projects.
o 10+ years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on renewable energy, particularly wind energy.
o Experience with power systems design, power electronics, and grid integration.
o Familiarity with industry standards and regulations, such as IEC, IEEE, and NEC.
o Proficiency in electrical design software (e.g., ETAP, PSS/E, MATLAB). Added Advantage
o Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
o Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
o Knowledge of SCADA systems, PLCs, and control systems is a plus.
o Professional Engineer (PE) license or equivalent certification is desirable.
Outdoor Requirements:
- Willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
