Job Description

A job description for a Catalog Specialist involves creating, managing, and optimizing product information in a database or e-commerce platform to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency. Key responsibilities include data entry, populating and updating product details, quality checking images, coordinating with internal teams and suppliers for information, and ensuring all product listings comply with brand and legal guidelines. Key responsibilities

  • Catalog management: Maintain and update the product catalog database regularly, ensuring data is accurate, complete, and consistent.
  • Content creation and optimization: Write and edit product descriptions, specifications, and details, ensuring they are clear, engaging, and optimized for search and discovery.
  • Quality assurance: Review and approve product images, ensure all required information is present, and perform regular audits to maintain data integrity.
  • Cross-functional collaboration: Work with suppliers, sales, marketing, and other internal teams to gather accurate product information and align on product presentation strategies.
  • Reporting and analysis: Generate reports to track catalog performance, accuracy, and progress, and analyze data to identify areas for improvement.
  • Issue resolution: Resolve issues related to product listings and provide support for internal and external inquiries regarding product information.

Required skills and qualifications

  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency with content management systems (CMS) and data management tools.
  • Strong command of Microsoft Office, especially Excel, including experience with functions like VLOOKUP and Pivot Tables.
  • Familiarity with SEO best practices is often required.
  • Soft Skills:
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
