We have an ambitious growth agenda and are rapidly growing our team across UK, Europe, US and APAC. We are seeking talented and highly skilled Director-level consultants to join our team and support us to expand our impact in the Private Equity (PE) sector. You will be working closely with Alysian leaders, PE Operating Partners, and the CIOs/IT Leadership teams at portfolio companies to execute transformative IT-enabled value creation strategies.
CONTEXT ON ROLE
The Business Case Development Expert will be responsible for leading the creation of robust, data-driven business cases to support technology-enabled transformation, integration, and carve-out initiatives within a Private Equity and M&A environment. This role requires a unique blend of strategic thinking, financial modelling, operational insight, and stakeholder management to ensure each business case clearly articulates value creation opportunities, risks, and measurable outcomes.

- Consistently seeks and drives solutions that deliver value aligned with Private Equity expectations — recognizing that these priorities may differ from long-term business goals, as PE ownership may focus on rapid, short-term improvements that enhance sale value
- Comfortable challenging established thinking and influencing stakeholders at all levels by presenting alternative solutions supported with robust financial, operational, and technical justifications
- Increase focus on IT technology transformation, prioritising strategy and planning over pure number crunching
- Defining and optimising solutions by preparing multiple viable options
- Identifying gaps or missing elements in solutions to ensure complete and risk-free business cases
- Creating and maintaining Excel templates
- Developing a semi-automated, streamlined approach for business case assessments to make the process faster, smoother, and more consistent
- Cost out expertise – ability to analyse the existing organisation and identify cost reduction or elimination opportunities
QUALIFICATION
- MBA from a premier or leading business school, or recognised degree from a top international university with strong academic performance.
- Professional certifications in project management, financial modelling, or strategy (e.g., PMP, CFA) are desirable.
WORK EXPERIENCE
- 10+ years of experience in consulting, strategy, or corporate development, with a focus on building business cases for technology transformation or M&A.
- At least 5 years in a top-tier consulting firm (McKinsey, BCG, Bain) preferred.
- Proven ability to integrate financial, operational, and technical inputs into compelling investment recommendations.
- Experience with Private Equity clients, portfolio companies, or PE-backed transformation initiatives.
- Strong analytical skills, with proficiency in Excel financial modelling and data visualisation tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau).
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Business Case Creation
- Develop end-to-end business cases for technology-enabled value creation initiatives across detailed Run-Cost and One-Off Costs for large transformation initiatives from Tech Value Creation perspective.
- Quantify potential benefits, costs, timelines, and ROI for proposed programs.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Facilitate workshops with C-suite, PE Operating Partners, and cross-functional teams to gather inputs and validate assumptions.
- Coordinate with key vendors to identify relevant ROMs (rough order of magnitude) for key cost components of transformation initiative.
- Align business case recommendations with broader investment theses and portfolio strategies.
Financial Modelling & Analysis
- Build dynamic financial models to forecast outcomes and test scenarios.
- Ensure models incorporate both financial and operational KPIs relevant to the initiative.
M&A Integration & Carve-Out Support
- Translate due diligence findings into actionable value creation initiatives supported by clear financial justification.
- Support Transitional Service Agreement (TSA) negotiations with quantified cost and benefit implications.
Governance & Tracking
- Establish frameworks to track realisation of business case benefits post-implementation.
- Prepare executive-level reports and presentations for investment committees and senior leadership.
Continuous Improvement
- Maintain templates, methodologies, and benchmarks for business case creation.
- Stay informed on market trends, technology innovations, and emerging valuation approaches.
Cost out
- Ability to analyse the existing organisation and identify cost reduction or elimination opportunities
REQUIREMENTS
Consulting Experience Mandatory: minimum 10 years of experience in consulting or advisory roles
- MBB – to be successful in this role, candidates require a minimum of 2 years at a Tier-1 consulting firm, specifically, McKinsey, BCG or Bain
PE Experience:
Private Equity Expertise
- Experience in large or mid-cap PEs either as an investment or operating professional, consultant in the PE sector or role in a PE-backed company.
- Experience in large-cap PE houses e.g. Blackstone, Carlyle, Warburg, CVC, EQT, KKR would be a strong asset.
