Role Summary

The Assistant Manager/Manager – BME will be responsible for ensuring the availability, functionality, and maintenance of biomedical equipment across all Vision Centers and Eye Hospitals in Bihar under the Vision Center Project. This role will ensure timely installation, calibration, preventive maintenance, breakdown support, vendor management, and compliance with biomedical standards to enable smooth ophthalmic services delivery.


Key Responsibilities


1. Equipment Installation & Commissioning

  • Oversee and coordinate installation of ophthalmic and biomedical equipment at Vision Centers and hospitals.
  • Ensure timely readiness of centers before service launch.
  • Conduct acceptance testing and calibration.

2. Preventive & Corrective Maintenance

  • Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules for all equipment (Slit lamps, Autorefractors, Phaco machines, etc.).
  • Attend to equipment breakdowns promptly and ensure minimum downtime.
  • Maintain equipment history and service records.

3. Vendor & AMC/CMC Management

  • Coordinate with OEMs, vendors, and service partners for AMC/CMC compliance.
  • Negotiate cost-effective service contracts.
  • Ensure adherence to warranty/AMC commitments.

4. Compliance & Safety

  • Ensure all biomedical equipment complies with NABH, ISO, and statutory safety requirements.
  • Conduct periodic safety and calibration audits.
  • Train staff on safe handling and basic troubleshooting.

5. Project & Operational Support

  • Support the Regional Project team in planning and execution of Vision Center rollout.
  • Track equipment logistics, availability, and inventory across 200+ Vision Centers.
  • Generate regular reports on equipment uptime, breakdowns, and costs.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong technical knowledge of biomedical/ophthalmic equipment.
  • Excellent troubleshooting and problem-solving ability.
  • Vendor management and negotiation skills.
  • Good communication and documentation skills.
  • Willingness to travel extensively across districts.

Qualification & Experience

  • Qualification:

    Diploma/B.Tech/B.E. in Biomedical Engineering / Electronics & Instrumentation.
  • Experience:

  • Assistant Manager: 4–6 years of relevant experience.
  • Manager: 6–10 years of relevant experience, preferably in hospital/ophthalmic projects.
  • Exposure to large-scale healthcare projects or NGO/public health programs will be an added advantage.
