Position Overview:The Catering Sales Manager is responsible for driving revenue through the strategic solicitation and booking of local corporate and social catering events. This position manages all phases of the sales and event execution process to ensure optimal guest satisfaction and property profitability. The role requires collaboration across departments and with off-property sales teams to ensure a unified, brand-aligned approach to sales.Key Responsibilities:Sales & Revenue GenerationProactively manages social catering sales for the hotel.Responds to incoming catering inquiries in a timely, professional manner.Identifies, qualifies, and solicits new catering business to meet or exceed personal and property revenue targets.Collaborates with off-property sales channels to ensure aligned work-styleUnderstands market dynamics (competitors, trends, supply/demand) and adjusts sales strategy accordingly.Closes high-value opportunities based on hotel demand and market conditions.Applies negotiating skills and creative strategies to maximize revenue and guest satisfaction.Regularly updates sales forecasts and manages catering revenue and operating budgets.Event Design & ExecutionDesigns, develops, and sells compelling and creative catered events tailored to client needs.Works with culinary and operations teams to develop high-selling menus and event concepts.Up-sells value-added services, event packages, and food & beverage options to maximize event spend.Prepares and manages contracts, proposals, and correspondence in line with brand and property standards.Oversees the successful transition of booked events to operational execution, ensuring all event details are well-communicated and expectations are met.Customer Relationship ManagementBuilds strong client relationships through regular communication, understanding of needs, and service excellence.Serves as the point of contact for clients throughout the planning and execution phases of the event.Anticipates client needs and resolves issues proactively to ensure high satisfaction and repeat business.Demonstrates in-depth knowledge of the hotel’s offerings and capabilities to provide effective solutions.Practices and enforces brand-specific service standards and guest satisfaction protocols.Cross-Functional CollaborationCoordinates with the culinary team, banquet operations, AV vendors, and external suppliers for flawless execution.Acts as a liaison between clients and hotel departments to ensure event success.Participates in daily business review meetings and service briefings to ensure alignment across departments.Monitors and addresses any guest issues arising from the sales process through proper channels.Customer Service ExcellenceDelivers outstanding customer service before, during, and after events to drive client satisfaction and loyalty.Represents the hotel at local networking events, trade shows, and industry functions.Understands client industries and event objectives to recommend personalized event solutions.Upholds the hotel’s brand identity in all client interactions and sales touchpoints.Additional ResponsibilitiesParticipates in training and development activities.Assists with department and hotel-wide projects as assigned by leadership.Remains informed about hotel services, offerings, and any operational changes.Proactively maintain and update a structured client database, including corporate, social, and event leads.Conduct regular cold calling to generate new business opportunities and drive sales across banquet, rooms, and other hotel services.Identify potential clients through market research and outreach, converting leads into confirmed bookings.Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field.2–4 years of experience in catering sales or event management in the hospitality sector.Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.Proven negotiation and closing skills.Proficiency in MS Office and hotel sales systems.Flexible work schedule, including availability on weekends and holidays for events.
