Position Summary:

Redaptive is seeking a Backend Engineer to join our Engineering team. As a Backend Engineer, you will be working with Engineering team, DevOps, Data Science, Product Managers, and QA to develop and maintain features in Redaptive’s platform.

Redaptive’s core platform is a data backhaul and meter data management system gathering Redaptive’s meter data from the field, and applications leveraging that meter data such as energy savings models and data dashboards. Integration between core operational systems (e.g., Salesforce, NetSuite) is another major focus area.

Expectation on working hours will be roughly 2 pm – 11 pm IST to align with USA mornings. (These will be the same hours as the other software developers from India will work.) This role will be based in India (ideally Pune) and will work closely with teammates across several international time zones including Argentina and USA. This position reports to the Software Engineering Manager in Pune, India.


Responsibilities and Duties:


  • Works independently on all technical tasks and mentors junior team members and provides technical guidance.
  • Consistently suggests improvements during peer reviews and code reviews.
  • Effectively communicates the problem with its background and suggests possible solutions.
  • Identifies and proposes technical designs for most problem statements
  • Provides task and user-story level estimations
  • Ensures that processes in place are followed by the team.
  • Possesses comprehensive expertise at least in 3 functional aspects of the product
  • Possesses comprehensive expertise in at least 3 technical aspects of the product
  • Regularly creates high-quality sharable task-level/API-level objects like LowLevel Design (LLD), documentation, technical artifacts, etc.

Required Abilities and Skills:


  • Proficiency in Java programming language and related technologies
  • Strong understanding of object-oriented programming principles, data structures, and algorithms.
  • Extensive experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, etc.
  • Expertise in database systems and SQL, including database design and optimization.
  • Familiarity with microservices architecture and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Experience with cloud computing platforms such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
  • Proficient in software development tools and version control systems (e.g., Git, SVN).
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail. Excellent communication and collaboration abilities.
  • Ability to mentor junior team members and provide technical guidance.
  • Proven track record of delivering high-quality software solutions within deadlines.
  • Continuously learning and staying up to date with emerging technologies and best practices in Java development.
  • Domain knowledge in energy efficiency, solar/storage, or electric utilities is a plus. Domain knowledge energy efficiency, solar/storage, or electric utilities is a plus.



Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or related field.
  • Experience with Java frameworks such as Spring, Hibernate, etc.
  • More than 8 years of software development experience.
  • Experience with cloud computing and the AWS suite. For example: IOT, S3, Lambdas, SQS, RDBMS (PostgreSQL), API Gateway.
  • Experience with version control systems like Git.
  • Hands-on experience with RESTful API design and development.
  • Experience in Agile software development methods and tooling, such as Jira ticketing, Scrum process, etc.

This role does not involve any international travel.
