Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities: Leadership and Team Management: Lead, mentor, and manage a team of engineers (BE, FE and QA), fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment that reflect agile mindset. Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, performance reviews, and career development sessions with team members. Facilitate team meetings, stand-ups, and retrospectives to ensure effective collaboration, process adherence and alignment. Manage hiring, training, and allocation to projects based on people skills and expertise. Project Management: Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of engineering projects, ensuring they meet quality standards, deadlines, and budget constraints. Collaborate with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to define project scope, goals, and deliverables. Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies. Measure teams performance through agile and engineering metrics, and ensure KRAs are met Develop and manage the engineering budget, ensuring efficient use of resources. Technical Oversight: Provide technical guidance and support to the engineering team, ensuring best practices in software development, architecture, and design. Review and approve technical designs, code, and documentation. Stay updated with emerging technologies and industry trends, and integrate them into the team's workflow. Process Improvement: Continuously evaluate and improve engineering processes, tools, and methodologies to enhance productivity and quality. Implement and advocate for agile practices, including Scrum or Kanban, to optimize project management and delivery. Stakeholder Communication: Act as a liaison between the engineering team and other functions/teams, ensuring clear and effective communication with all relevant stakeholders. Present project updates, technical insights, and performance metrics to senior management and stakeholders. Required Abilities and Skills: Technical Expertise: Strong background in software engineering, with proficiency in multiple programming languages and frameworks (preferably product development background with experience with Java tech stack and SaaS echo system). Deep understanding of software development lifecycle, architecture, and design principles. Technically hands on. Able to do code review/design review. Experience with cloud platforms, DevOps practices, and CI/CD pipelines. Leadership and People Management: Proven experience in leading and managing engineering teams, with a focus on mentorship and career development. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire team members. Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities. Project and Delivery Management: Demonstrated experience in managing complex engineering projects from inception to delivery. Proficiency in project management tools and methodologies, such as Agile, Scrum, or Kanban. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines. Analytical and Strategic Thinking: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to assess technical challenges and develop effective solutions. Strategic thinking, with the ability to align engineering goals with business objectives. Collaboration and Communication: Excellent collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams (having experience in working with USA based stakeholders will be an added advantage). Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical information to non-technical stakeholders. Adaptability and Continuous Learning: Ability to adapt to changing technologies and industry trends. Commitment to continuous learning and professional development. Energy, electricity, HVAC, lighting, solar, or other related domain experience is a plus. Education and Experience: 10-15+ years of software development experience, and min 2+ years of technical leadership experience (i.e. managed engineering team of min 6-10 engineers). Must have strong programming experience and must be a hands-on programmer (Java /JavaScript /Python). Experience with Cloud (AWS) application development. Experience of working in microservices, SOA and solid understanding of web services paradigms. Experience in Designing and developing web-based applications and backend services. The Perks!
