Back End Developer

About the Role

Seeking a Backend Developer with strong experience in building scalable, fault-tolerant, and high performance backend systems. The role involves architecting APIs, designing data models, optimizing queries, and ensuring reliability under production load. Ideal candidates demonstrate ownership, deep technical reasoning, and an ability to translate functional requirements into robust backend architectures.

Responsibilities:

● Architect, develop, and maintain backend services using Node.js, Express.js, and MongoDB.

● Design scalable RESTful APIs, GraphQL and Web Socket with clear versioning and structured error handling.

● Develop efficient data models, indexing strategies, and performance-oriented database operations. Implement complex MongoDB Aggregation Pipelines for analytics-driven features.

● Implement authentication, authorization, and secure API communication patterns.

● Build modular, reusable service layers with clean separation of concerns.

● Ensure system observability with logging, metrics, audit trails, and monitoring.

● Optimize backend for high throughput, low latency, and resilience under load.

● Deploy and manage applications on AWS EC2, Lambda, and containerized environments.

● Collaborate with frontend, DevOps, AI Engineers and product teams for seamless

integration.

Requirements

● Strong proficiency in Node.js and Express.js.

● Hands-on experience with MongoDB, including schema design and aggregation pipelines.

● Solid understanding of GraphQL architecture, including schema design, queries, and mutations.

● Good knowledge of API security, JWT/OAuth flows, and role-based access control.

● Experience with building scalable distributed systems and asynchronous processing..

● Experience deploying on AWS (EC2, ECS, Lambda).

● Knowledge in Python will be an added advantage

● Understanding of containerization using Docker will be an added advantage

● Strong problem-solving and debugging skills.

● Ability to reason about trade-offs: performance vs. complexity, scalability vs. cost.

● Writes clean, modular, well-tested code following SOLID principles.

● Understands distributed systems fundamentals: availability, consistency, durability.

● Capable of designing systems that scale horizontally and degrade gracefully.

● Deep understanding of data modeling and efficient database operations.

● Strong grasp of API design principles: idempotency, pagination, rate-limiting.

● Prioritizes observability: logging, tracing, monitoring, and fault isolation.

Nice to Have

● Experience with microservices or service-oriented architecture.

● Knowledge of CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, or AWS CodePipeline.

● Exposure to infrastructure-as-code (Terraform/CloudFormation).

● Familiarity with performance profiling tools and production debugging.

● Basic knowledge of serverless design patterns (Lambda-based workflows).
