About the Role

We’re building a multi-vendor marketplace from the ground up. As a Backend Intern, you’ll work closely with senior engineers on real production systems including user management, product catalogs, orders, payments, and vendor workflows. This is a hands-on role with real ownership, not a shadowing internship.

What You’ll Work On

• Build and maintain backend APIs for user, product, cart, order, and payment flows
• Work with relational databases (PostgreSQL) and write clean, efficient queries
• Assist in integrating payment gateways and handling webhooks safely
• Implement authentication, authorization, and role-based access control
• Help design and maintain clean data models for marketplace use cases
• Debug production issues and improve reliability and performance
• Collaborate with frontend and product teams to ship features end-to-end

Tech Stack

• Backend: Node.js (NestJS preferred, Express acceptable)
• Database: PostgreSQL
• Cloud: AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, EC2 basics)
• Auth: JWT / OAuth (Cognito is a plus)
• Payments: Razorpay, PhonePe, Stripe (exposure is a plus)

What We’re Looking For

• Strong fundamentals in JavaScript / TypeScript
• Basic understanding of backend concepts like APIs, databases, and authentication
• Familiarity with SQL and relational data modeling
• Clear understanding of how frontend and backend interact
• Willingness to learn production-grade systems and best practices
• Ability to think logically, ask questions, and take ownership

Nice to Have

• Prior experience with NestJS or structured backend frameworks
• Exposure to payment gateways or webhook handling
• Understanding of transactions, concurrency, and error handling
• Basic AWS knowledge
• Experience building or contributing to real projects
