Azure Cloud Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Azure Cloud Engineer to join our team. In this role you will lead the design, development, and deployment of scalable cloud services supporting data Lakehouse architectures, AI/ML applications, LLM access, container-based application services, and data pipelines. This role will be instrumental in building robust, secure, and high-performance cloud infrastructure and services that enable advanced analytics and machine learning capabilities across the organization.

• Proven experience working in cross-functional teams, including developers, architects, security, and operations, to deliver end-to-end cloud solutions.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively translate technical requirements and constraints across diverse teams.
• Ability to lead or contribute to cloud architecture design sessions, ensuring alignment with business goals and technical standards.
• Experience in facilitating cloud adoption strategies, including migration planning, cost optimization, and performance tuning, in collaboration with stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities and drive consensus in a multi-team environment.
• Comfortable working in Agile/Scrum environments, participating in sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Experience with hybrid cloud environments and integrating on-premises systems with Azure services. Design and implement scalable, highly available, and secure cloud architectures using Azure services
• Setup subscriptions, configure cloud networking components including Azure EXPRESSROUTE, CIDR blocks, Azure DNS
• Design and deploy scalable pipelines for automating deployments for Azure cloud services such as Azure Databricks, ADLS, AKS, Blob storage.
• Configure security policies using Azure resource groups and Azure Policy
• Develop and manage infrastructure-as-code using tools like Terraform or Ansible.
• Ensure security, compliance, and cost-efficiency of cloud services.
• Monitor and troubleshoot performance issues across cloud services and data pipelines.
• Automate deployment and operational tasks using CI/CD pipelines (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Azure DevOps).
• Stay current with Azure innovations and recommend improvements to existing architectures.
• Mentor junior team members and contribute to the overall growth of the cloud engineering practice

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field
• 10-12 years total experience with 5-7 years of cloud experience with Microsoft Azure, including services like:
• Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2
• Azure Databricks
• Azure Machine Learning
• Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS)
• Azure Functions and Logic Apps
• Azure Policy
• Strong understanding of cloud networking, security, and governance.
• Experience with hybrid and multi-cloud environments.
• Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC) specifically strong knowledge of Terraform & Python
• Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes
• Proven track record of designing and implementing complex cloud solutions for enterprise environments
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail
• Excellent communication and collaboration abilities
• Microsoft Azure certifications (e.g., Azure Solutions Architect Expert, Azure DevOps Engineer Expert) are highly desirable
• Good knowledge of at least one other cloud platforms (AWS, GCP) is required
