Organizational Overview
The Remediation COE works on remediation projects for all functions across SYF. The group is responsible for identifying impacted customers and arriving at the financial and non-financial impacts for those customers. The group follows robust processes and has adequate controls that ensure utmost accuracy of the remediation projects.
Role Summary/Purpose
The AVP, Senior Remediation Analytics is responsible for partnering with the remediation project manager and various business subject matter experts to identify the impacted population and/or downstream customer harm caused by a Synchrony error. This individual will perform complicated data extraction from the Synchrony data warehouses (principally Credit data) and use this data to conduct SAS coding analysis to mitigate risks as a part of Synchrony’s consumer remediation and issue resolution efforts. This role will also mentor other analytics resources. This individual should be able to think strategically and tactically and embrace a culture of innovation.
Key Responsibilities
- Drive remediation projects across various functions (primarily the Credit function). Understand the business requirements, ask probing questions to gather precise requirements, develop analytics solutions and identify impacted population and/or harm.
- Develop advanced SAS and/or SQL code, modify visual basic macros or other query tools for remediation.
- Mentor and provide support to Analysts on data warehouse structures, data analysis tools and coding solutions.
- Ensure deliverables are of high quality and follow proper documentation and coding standards.
- Participate in various data and process initiatives across SYF and bring the team up to speed on details around these initiatives.
- Disseminate best practices throughout the team focusing on Credit processes, foster continuous improvement and reinforce commitment to stronger coding practices and support standard builds.
- Conduct data analysis/SAS coding for remediations.
- Provides thought leadership to improve remediation analytics processes.
- Provides leadership, analysis and support for Remediation team initiatives.
- Partners with leadership on efforts to improve availability and accessibility of data, as well as focusing on ways to improve efficiency.
- Process data expert – provides this expertise to other Analytics team members via learning sessions, as well as documentation of best practices and data warehouse tribal knowledge.
- Creates templates and job aids to improve consistency and completeness of remediation analytics.
- Other responsibilities as needed.
Required Skills/Knowledge
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 6 years of experience in a consumer finance & banking organization, or in lieu of a degree, 8+ years of experience in a consumer finance organization.
- 6+ years of experience in Analytics.
- 5+ years’ experience in coding with SAS, SQL, Visual Basic, Business Objects, or other Business Intelligence query tools.
- Solid working knowledge of Unix, Excel.
- Strong written/oral communication skills.
- Should not be on a performance improvement plan and formal corrective or above.
Desired Skills/Knowledge
- Excellent relationship building skills.
- Experience in working with large volumes of data from multiple data sources.
- Proven ability to direct employees across multiple locations, including offshore teams.
- Strong written communication and presentation skills.
- Experience with Synchrony mainframes – Vision Plus, FDR, DM.
- Ability to make decisions based on quantitative analysis and creative thinking.
- Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Visio, & PowerPoint.
- Ability to handle sensitive issues with uncompromising integrity and confidentiality
Eligibility Criteria
- Bachelor’s degree and minimum 6 years of experience in a consumer finance & banking organization, or in lieu of a degree, 8+ years of experience in a consumer finance organization.
- 6+ years of experience in Analytics.
- 5+ years’ experience in coding with SAS, SQL, Visual Basic, Business Objects, or other Business Intelligence query tools.
