AutoCAD Draughtsman

Position: NPD (New Product Development) Executive Department: New Product Development Location: Vasai, Mumbai Reporting to: NPD Head About the Role We are looking for a hands-on NPD Executive to strengthen one of the most crucial yet currently underperforming departments at Vaishnav Fasteners (VF). The selected candidate will be responsible for driving the entire new product journey — from drawing and costing to prototype delivery and supplier coordination. This role demands initiative, curiosity, and ownership. You’ll work at the intersection of design, production, and procurement to ensure new product enquiries are converted into manufacturable and profitable outcomes. Key Responsibilities 1. Drawings & Design : Prepare all engineering and customer drawings in AutoCAD (2D mandatory) Maintain a digital master library of all product and process drawings. Ensure drawing revisions are tracked, dated, and properly version-controlled. Interpret customer drawings/specifications and translate them into manufacturing details. 2. Costing & Feasibility Learn and maintain costing sheets for new enquiries. Understand component-wise cost drivers (material, process, plating, packaging, logistics). Coordinate with production, purchase, and quality teams for input data on time and resource requirements. Recommend optimal process routes and materials for cost-effective manufacturing. 3. Enquiry Management Acknowledge and log all new customer enquiries. Study drawings, clarify technical doubts, and reply with feasibility and timelines. Coordinate with production, quality & purchase for delivery commitments and approvals. 4. Sampling & Production Follow-UpEnsure timely development and dispatch of first samples to customers. Track progress of tooling, material procurement, machining, plating, and inspection stages. Escalate delays and roadblocks proactively. 5. Vendor Coordination & Outsourcing Identify and qualify new vendors for special processes and bought-out parts. Take quotations, compare pricing, and prepare supplier evaluation sheets. Follow up for outsourced components and materials to meet sampling deadlines. Must-Have Skills Proficiency in AutoCAD (mandatory) — ability to read, modify, and create 2D drawings accurately. Strong fundamentals in mechanical components, tolerances, and manufacturing processes. Good communication and coordination skills — ability to follow up and get things done. Working knowledge of Excel/Sheets for costing and tracking. High ownership and willingness to learn. Good-to-Have Experience in fastener or precision component manufacturing. Knowledge of plating, heat treatment, and special process vendors. Familiarity with ERP or production tracking systems.
