Associate Director – Anesthesia Coding

We are seeking an accomplished and strategic Associate Director – Anesthesia Coding to lead and oversee end-to-end operations, quality, and compliance for our anesthesia coding vertical. The ideal candidate will have deep domain expertise, a strong operational background, and proven experience in managing large teams, driving performance excellence, and ensuring coding accuracy aligned with regulatory standards and client expectations.

• Certification: CPC / COC / CCS / CIC (AAPC or AHIMA) – mandatory.
• Minimum 10–15 years of experience in medical coding, with at least 5 years in Anesthesia coding leadership roles.
• Proven experience in team management (100+ FTEs) and multi-project oversight.
• Strong command over ASA guidelines, modifiers, concurrency, time-based billing, and payer policies.
• Expertise in RPA-driven workflows, coding platforms, and EHR systems.
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and analytical skills.
• Strong business acumen and ability to translate operational insights into strategic actions.

• Provide strategic direction and leadership to the Anesthesia Coding division, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and client deliverables.
• Oversee coding operations, audit, and quality assurance processes to ensure consistent accuracy and compliance with ASA, CPT, ICD-10-CM, and payer guidelines.
• Lead a team of coding managers, trainers, and quality analysts, fostering a culture of performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Develop and execute productivity, quality, and operational efficiency metrics, ensuring adherence to SLAs and KPIs.
• Partner with the Client Services and Transition teams for onboarding new projects and scaling existing business.
• Drive automation, process improvement, and technology-driven enhancements to streamline operations.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and internal data security standards.
• Collaborate with Learning & Development to create growth paths, certification programs, and training plans for coders.
• Provide thought leadership in anesthesia coding practices and contribute to strategy planning, cost optimization, and business growth initiatives.
